Looking for ideas on bed storage.. I have a tonneau cover so I would like to keep it under that height for now (19 inches). I was using an older bed box I was using in my jeep CJ-5, but I bought one of these to test it out..

    https://www.lowes.com/pd/COMMANDER-20-Gallon-80-Quart-Black-Tote-with-Latching-Lid/1000421925

for $22 it was ok, I was worried about leaving it out in the rain, and water getting in it, but it held up the few times I left it out of the truck, and on the deck.. and i never noticed water getting in it. well it eventually failed on an outting. I had overstuffed the box, and the clips that hold the top on broke. so i go these.... also the wheels just took up storage space in the container, and I never used them...

    https://www.lowes.com/pd/CRAFTSMAN-20-Gallon-80-Quart-Black-Tote-with-Latching-Lid/1000976072

they're 15" tall so I lost som storage there.. but they seem a lot more rugged, (although this may be an issue in cold weather.. I got 2 of them, and I use 1 for food/camping items, and the other is for recovery gear and tools.

other items that go in the bed are:

    *3 5.7gallon jerry cans (2 fuel , 1 water)

*Rinsekit + (2 gallons of water, with heater rod, booster pump, and

    *folding camp chair

*folding camp table (older wooden 2 piece)

*Lifetime 75 Qt. bear resistant cooler

I had a hard time choosing a proper box as the ones I looked at were either too short, or too tall to stack, and fit under the 19" restriction.. the ones that were 19" tall were 50-60 gallons, and just seemed to be a pit for stuff to get lost, and would wind up being so heavyu I would never take them out (not practical)

anyone out there have other storage soultions? I'm not ready for a drawer setup yet....

Second vote for the Plano. Love mine. When we go camping I throw a bunch of stuff in it and tie it down on top of my bed cover and it handles the elements well. Lockable as well tough enough to stand on or sit on.

Cheap and so far durable. I store my annex, rain fly and annex floor in one. Other has misc camping supplies. My favorite is my Pelican 1740 but, I had it attached to my bed bars.

I use the Plano tote under my backflip cover and it works great. After 3 years, the tonneau cover leaks like a siv. And it keeps my gear dry. I also use two buckets with lids that drywall mud comes in. I painted them black to please my OCD. They fit on either side of the Plano tote and work great fitting under the cover and keep things together and dry.

I use this for essentials since I have two car seats in the back. And accessing the storage under the seat is a hassle. It fits perfectly under my tonneau cover too4B35DC81-44B9-4913-BBFC-07F98FF4F8C0.jpg

The Plano Sportsman's line are great. Various sizes for versatility. And the lids have enough room to apply some weatherstripping for a nearly (wouldn't submerge) watertight & dust free seal.
