As others have said your going to be highly dissatisfied..With that being dry weight by the time your loaded it will be over your limits..only option is lighter trailer or different truck

Realistically around 4500-5000 lbs is the max for these trucks. By the time you get a 5900 lb trailer loaded you'll be over 6400 lbs. With the required WDH that would put about 950-1000 lbs on your tongue. Payload is the real limit, that would only leave you 200-250 lbs for yourself, passengers, and cargo in the truck before going over payload.

Wouldn't adding 5.29 gears really help with being able to tow closer to the recommended weight through mountains and long hills?

I tend to agree with the ones saying it's to much . Check the towing thread. More goes into the towing than just weight of the trailer. A good friend did the same thing got a max trailer for his Suzuki , it didn't work out well, it pulled it, that's it but it moved him around in the wind. He traded for a full size 1/2 ton , same bs. Traded for 3/4 ton problems solved. Not sure all the details but afterwards when finally looked into it, he found out about axel and tung weights to cargo and length, most RV sales staff just want to sell and don't understand it also. Granted he was pulling all over the US not short weekend jaunts.

screw what the manual says. whats the door sticker say? every truck is slightly different depending on options.

that trailer is way too heavy for a Tacoma. is that the loaded or unloaded weight of the trailer? either way its too heavy in my opinion.. most recommend a 1000 pound buffer zone.

you either buy the right truck for your trailer or in your case the right trailer for your truck..

my trailer is 5500 pounds loaded and even though the Tacoma towed it and never felt unsafe the damn thing was always at 4-4500 rpm at highway speeds. it towed that trailer on 2 10 hour trips but man what a workout for the truck and me. then you have the lousy poayload of the tacoma. ours was 900 pounds. after three people, three dogs and the tongue weight of the trailer i'm sure were over quite a bit.

used the tacoma for two years. traded it in on a 2019 GMC half ton with the 6.2 eng and max tow package. what a difference. tows like a dream, doesn't wear me out towing and the truck barley breaks a sweat towing the same trailer.

i'd have to agree with others. even though it says its rated for 6400 pounds i think it would like 3000-3500 much better.

killed me leaving toyota because i've always had great experiences with them but its better to be safe then to be sorry when it comes to towing and the safety of the family.. so far the gmc gets damn close tot eh same mpg as the tacoma too.

Yes, with added passengers to the truck and cargo added to trailer. You will be over the GCVWR of the truck.

Towing is the reason I kept my old half ton GMC even when I bought my Tacoma. Its a 2003 with a 4.8 but it can tow a hell of a lot more than this Tacome ever dreamed of and I don't feel the least bit bad about punishing it. I have a motor and trans sitting at my Dads shop to replace the one in the GMC, if either one grenades, that I paid 1200 bucks for.

44E8A8B8-B13B-4D34-B5FD-C76A5FC28B29.jpg After pulling this 3300lb(dry) TT for 3 hours, I know I wouldn’t attempt to pull anything more. It just doesn’t make sense. I pulled it on the Interstate in S4 with ECT averaging 60mph. It pulled the trailer great but I could tell I was pushing the limit when I would lose speed on a few hills. I made a point not to let it go to 3rd. Anyway, 60mph @ 2600rpm’s and I averaged 12mpg on that trip.

the trans really acts confused with weight behind the truck. its bad enough empty but weight on a tacoma it gets really confused. almost like the rear doesn't have enough gear to me..

my bullet is 3750 empty (5500 loaded) and bringing it home empty 10 hours had me thinking what the hell did i get into.

I think its the frontal area of a travel trailer (square shape) that really affects the towing ability of the Tacoma more than weight. I tow a 5700lbs boat/trailer (weighed on scales) and the Tacoma tows it no problem. Sure it revs on the hills to keep speed, but it can cruise no problem on the flat at 70 mph. The boat is definitely more aerodynamic than a travel trailer. IMG_20190602_1600045.jpg

You either live somewhere very flat, are incredibly patient or just don’t mind driving near max RPM. I get tired of my engine screaming along and my boat probably only weighs half that.

By factory lift I’m assuming you mean something the dealer installed. So it’s likely about a 2-1/2” spacer lift with maybe a 1” block in the rear. With that trailer you’re looking at probably 600lbs tongue weight. All that tongue weight lightens up your front end (which is already maxing out the designed geometry) and effects your ability to steer safely and control your whole situation.

I’m not saying it can’t be done if your going a short distance and very cautious. But you can’t control all the other idiots on the road and it would only take one to bring down your whole house of cards.

Right??? I'm in WA also and tow a 14' Lund WC on a little single axle bunk trailer with a 25hp 2stroke. Towing that little boat with some camping gear, wife, infant and German shepherd in the truck and its a pain in the ass. Dont get me wrong it will tow it no problem it just sucks. Took a trip last month on HWY 20 over the mountain passes and listened to the motor just SCREAM the whole way over. To do 60 over the pass your listening to that motor sit at 4-5K RPM for like an hour. Gets really. fucking. old. I cant even imagine towing something bigger, no thanks.

Curently looking at GX460's due to the growing family. Hoping one of those will be better with the 4.6 V8. Why they dont stick that in the Tacoma I will never know..

Bullet Crossfire BL1750 and I probably built this one to though it's an older MY as we switched to flat back ends on all Bullets back in late 2017 I think.

Edit: My bad wasn't paying attention to how many axles there was. The 2070BH is what that model is, which is no longer made or at least hasn't been made on my line for some time now and is replaced by the 1750.
