Does anyone know where I could buy a 1st Gen. OEM Ratiator?

I contacted a few dealerships and was told they don't make them anymore....WTF!

You may want to look up radiator. You'll come up with more search options.

Well technically theyre right. 1st gen "oem" rads were made by Harrison. I believe they dont make radiators anymore.

Best bet would be to pick up a Denso unit from Napa.

Yep Napa, autozone and usually they’ll come with a lifetime warranty.

I always liked Denso products in the past. When I was looking for an OEM I read some reviews about the Denso radiator and people where saying the quality is poor and made in china. I will check autozone and if it carries a lifetime warranty then I will consider.

Some have said Koyo is a good replacement but I really want an OEM that has been proven to last. Mine is still working after 21 years and 120k! But I feel it will go soon.

Don’t stress over something you have no control of. Its a 21 year vehicle, “OEM” is probably not from the same manufacturer anymore. Get the next best thing, Denso. You can be like some of us and get a Champion ;)

Your original radiator lasting 21 years is a big YMMV. Let’s just say you were able to get another “OEM” radiator. How much would you bet it would last you another 21 years?

120k in 21 years, that’s around 6,000 miles a year? I do that in 6 months with my commuter.

Over the years, I've had best luck with NAPA radiators in Japanese cars. Over 10 years on one. No signs of any trouble. I can't say that about some others.

For my 2003 I got the radiator from Autozone. I ordered from a Toyota dealer originally and they had to refund the money as there are no radiators for a 2003 from Toyota. That radiator is a direct fit and has been on the truck for about 60,000 miles.

You can’t. But there’s no shortage of aftermarket ones.
The radiator for these trucks are very inexpensive now and cheaply made.

They are in the 100.00 price range, so if your only driving 6k per year in 21 years I don’t
think you can go wrong with an Autozone option and if it fails it would be easy to get a replacement.

I put 30-40k a year and have run through plenty of radiators. Most failed from the header
tank either cracking or the seam breaking from the core. If the radiator is going to fail it’s from the miles, not the age.

The last radiator I had before I had a custom radiator made was the Champion aluminum and it failed with a seam split at the tank after 35k miles and 1.5 years later, but it did drop my temps to 185-188 from 195-210.
The Champion radiator is 2.5” thick unlike the stock core at less than 1”. So it did a much better job at keeping the engine cool BUT is made of cheap thin aluminum.

The stock radiators are mostly cheaply made and a very thin core at 1” core or less and plastic tanks
that do fail. Some people have good luck and get more miles and some don’t like me.

It seems like my radiators would last 150k or so. But for you that’s another 21 years.

I could not find a quality high performance radiator for these trucks.
The stock radiators are not a high performance item by any means and on hot days they are pushing their limits for keeping the engine cool especially at stop and go traffic.

I finally went with a custom aluminum radiator that’s made with extremely thick quality aluminum (35 pound) actually 3 times the weight of the stock 10 pound radiator and twice the weight of the 15 pound Champion aluminum radiator.
This radiator will keep my truck running at 180 degrees all day long no matter what the outside temp is
and will be the last radiator I will need to buy. But very expensive. A custom is 600-1000. My opinion was keep replacing the radiators as they break or get a really good one made. I’ve gone through 4 radiators including aluminum champion at this point at 600,000 which equals to probably 700.00 of bad radiators,

    Each persons needs Are different

    Great information everyone.

Finally, my Harrison radiator when out :( . After reading some of the threads on this someone I think mentioned mishimoto radiator so I went ahead and ordered and it arrived damaged. They are currently sending me another unit, but I figure I can maybe use the damaged radiator in the meantime as I'm helping out my mother in law close down her business. I don't drive that much so normally I will just have it sit there until I get the correct parts, but now I'm thinking of returning, after comparing the harrision with a new radiator. There is no comparison that harrison radiator is built, as you can see from the below pics the Mishimoto radiator core is thin maybe a 1inch. I didn't really pay attention to this when ordering, so now I'm trying to get another radiator by tomorrow but from what I can see all the radiators are 1 inch except for the denso.

So my question anyone knows where I can source a thicker core than radiator locally here in the los angeles area? I checked autozone, napa, pepbosy and their all 1 inch thick cores.
