Installed a single sub with professionally built box, including handles for a quick 60sec removal that allows full backseat access when needed.

*JL Audio W13 (1,500 watt RMS, 3,000 watt peak)
*JL Audio 1200/1 D Class mono amp
*Custom box is professionally made to exact 13W subwoofer ideal specs, sealed, carpeted, and 1.5" thick with fiberglass sealed interior, and custom 14 piece handles to make moving/placement easier (this thing is extremely heavy, ~100lbs).

Basically what I did. I never had rear passengers but if I needed to I can take the box out in a minute.

Exaaaactly. Dont stuff four passengers in my truck that often or have a need for the extra space in the cab, but when it happens, I like having the option,

Stock deck....call me old, but wasnt interested in tackling the various interactions between modern stereos and vehicle bells 'n whistles (back up camera, steering wheel controls, etc).

Swapped the stock speakers for Infinity Kappas, added a single sub & amp, and called it a day.

How did the kappas perform compared to stock still with the same head unit?

Incredible difference, even with the stock unit.

The OEM speakers are a joke......they have magnets the size of .50 cent pieces. Sad to still under power the Kappas like this, but a 4 channel amp will have to wait, and I love the current sound in the meantime.

In Toyota's defense, I ran separates front & back, so imaging, frequency range, sound quality, output.......everything's much better.

Wow that is a mammoth sub. I like it. I bet the bass sounds better with the windows down huh? That's the case for my truck. Too little space for a 12".

Yeeeeaaaaah man, mammoth is a great word for it. Think the magnet alone weighs 85lbs,

I realize this thread is a bit old; I imagine you are running your amp from High inputs? How is the bass response? I've read in other threads with some people having bass roll off from the factory head unit.

    Thanks...Mike

So, yes, ran high inputs off the OEM deck. No, didnt seem like I sacrificed low end bass in the process. That said, i do feel like the performance was subpar overall because of the stock head unit. I really had to play with the levels (gain/loss) before i was happy,
