Fuel pump doesn’t prime like most cars with the key in the on position. You could give the igniter a thorough visual inspection by unplugging it and looking for any burned pins as a start.

That’s what I’m starting to think. It might be a loose wire or damaged wire and not the fuel pump it’s prolly not getting signal to turn on the pump. Where or what harness should we focus on?

Will check that first when we have day light and see. He has a remote start installed for years that works and I see the installer tapped into that harness not sure which exact wire but could have pulled on it over time and it came loose. Will check these when we can.

Check for voltage at the pump connecter. If you have it, disconnect the fuel line somewhere to see if you're getting fuel. Pull a spark plug and check for spark.

We swapped out his ignitor and put it in my truck and it fires fine.

So the wire tapped into it is I’m sure from the alarm but here’s the kicker. If I use my remote start the engine fires right up. No code no idle no issues. But with my Clifford alarm I have to stick the key in the ignition and turn it to the on and change gear by hitting the brakes. When I do. The engine cuts off and dies. With the ke only it only cranks and cranks and doesn’t fire up.

So he has a remote start and an aftermarket alarm - ugh. There’s a stock set of wires beneath that designed to run just fine. I’d probably remove one at a time until you get to a functioning truck and decide whether you need to have either. I imagine the alarm would have a relay you can jumper to experiment with prior to removing any stuff. T splicers are one of the worst things I can imagine when it comes to an ignition circuit. I found a few when removing an aftermarket alarm the previous owner had installed and one was completely melted. Cut and solder is more time consuming, but way less prone to causing problems.

We unhooked the brake harness and used the remote start and started the engine and was able to push that tab on the shifter to shift to drive and go but that’s it. It’s drivable but he hit the hwy past 50mph and it slowed down and died. Under 50mph he’s been fine. Any thoughts?

Open Circuit Relay is what controls your fuel pump. So it could be faulty. There's a lot of threads on here as to where you can find it for your specific year and how to test it. Id check that..

We pulled the EFI and the other one under the dash and swapped it with the Outlet one and it didn’t change.

I was going to say that only other thing that I can think of would be the ignition itself, the key cylinder. Maybe somethings got knocked loose or theres a bad connection. Also try checking the fuel injectors too.. How many miles does this truck have btw??

127xxx miles only. He said recently he had to switch to his final 3rd key that’s metal cause it wouldn’t turn with the key but works with the remote start but then with the 3rd key inserted he was able to still drive like normal that was 6 months ago now the 3rd key just cranks and won’t recognize it’s in the ignition with the remote start and when you press the brake to shift the engine cuts off like the remote start is on with no key in the ignition like someone can’t jump in your vehicle and take off without the key but with the remote start on.

Sounds like an electrical problem. Do you have wiring diagrams from the remote start and alarm?
