If you think of it this way,
You try stopping your truck if the engine is off your brakes will suck no matter what you are running or how much foot power you push.

So there may be a big difference with an adjustment to the booster or a new booster that’s not worn out from time

 

What brand of booster and master cylinder are you running?

 

I bought new OEM, I figured 20 years means the rubber is not the same anymore just like those brake
lines of yours. For me it’s preventive maintenance.

Yup, because these Tacoma’s are 20 some years old the rubber components are coming to the end of their life. So I have been replacing all the rubber type items slowly on my truck.

Just replaced the front radiator body mounts last week too when I had the radiator out. Easy job.
I didn’t even know the rubber was shot till I took them apart to inspect them.

 

Looks like OEM boosters have been discontinued for non-ABS models.

 

You can always get a non OEM unit.

You can also call around, just because it shown there are non there doesn’t mean that you can’t find them. I have see this plenty of times. Look on eBay and Amazon.

I bought mine off eBay for 275
There is one on eBay for 800 but that’s too much to pay
Aftermarket ones are 100.00

Looks the ABS model part number.

 

Ohh didn’t look up the number, they do show up or just go aftermarket for 100.
I don’t think OEM is necessary for this item if one doesn’t pop up

 

I've bought a lot of parts from this Tom eBay seller over the years. Its all been good.

 

Let me know your results if you replace your booster if it’s similar to my results.

I’m betting a lot of the Tacoma brake issues are actually booster related as you can’t physically tell
if a booster is not working at 100 percent.
There is very little on this site about booster info and how to adjust it Or test it if it’s working ar 100 percent

Thanks. I’ll keep that in mind. The list just keeps going on and on. I have to find a good balance between enjoying the truck out on the road or always having it taken apart to replacing/upgrading something.
