If it’s empty, do you have to put 2 fuses in there or just one?
And which slot top or bottom?

    A thing or two...
Just use the top slot of the add-a-fuse.

Orientation of an add-a-fuse in the fuse block is important.

The correct way both fuses get power in parallel from one blade with the original fuse protecting the circuit on its downstream leg and the extra fuse protecting the circuit connected to the wire. Installed backwards and the original fuse still works but the extra fuse draws in series from the downstream side of the original fuse instead of in parallel with it. Still protected but more likely to blow the original fuse.

Fuse blocks have a buss that supplies power to one blade of the fuses and terminals for the circuits protected on the other blade. The non-wire end of the add-a-fuse should be plugged into the buss side. Since fuses don't have an orientation the block generally isn't labeled so it's up to you to figure out which blade socket is connected to the buss.

As far as the add-a-fuse itself goes only one fuse slot connects with the wire so if you're using an empty fuse panel slot and no original fuse only one add-a-fuse orientation and one add-a-fuse slot combination will be hot.

    Thanks for the reply.
The last part confused me a little bit tho. So your saying I only need the one fuse inside, but I have to figure out which way the add a fuse goes? But it goes in the top?

Would the top be if the prongs were in the bottom, the top is on the left?

Wire pointed up, blades pointed away from you, the fuses on the right. Closest to you is extra, furthest is stock.

Yes, if you install the add-a-fuse wrong, the top slot won't have power. If you install the add-a-fuse correctly but put the fuse in the wrong slot the wire won't have power.

If however, you install the add-a-fuse wrong but use 2 fuses the wire would have power. Current would flow first through one fuse, then the other and out the wire.

    Oh gotcha Makes sense.
One problem I’m having is my switch works but instead of putting the power in the middle prongs, I had to put it on the side that goes to my relay. The. The relay one in the middle otherwise the switch stays on. My circuit tho keeps popping, but I’m not sure why. Any suggestions?
Could it be that I used 18 gage off the battery to my fuse block just to test?

Gauge of wire has very little chance of causing a fuse to blow (i assume that's what you mean by popping).

you have something miswired/shorted, or a bad component somewhere that is shorted. basically, + connected to ground without a load = blown fuse.

Would need to see how it's wired. Sorry but can't tell what's going on from the description. There are plenty of ways to mess it up so pics might help figure out which.

Figured it out. I have my relay sitting in the power tray. Its on a slight angle so one of the prongs was just touching the tray. Put electrical tape around it and no issues anymore

Probably should move it a bit. Vibration will cause the tape to rub through and short it out again.

At least some heat shrink instead of tape. I hate using electrical tape for anything more then marking wires.

there's heat shrink that can go over the connectors after they plug into the relay?

Here’s a pretty simple one. More room for more in the future. What’s the benefit of a circuit breaker over a fuse like I have on the right?

Not sure how your getting a short issue or how you have the bottoms done. Mine have the actual plugs so no issue of a potential short.

Also attached to avoid faulty connections and so I can trace wires without tearing out my plate.

That’s what I figured. So cover the connections with heat shrink. Slide it down the wire, connect the spades, slide it back up and heat... or get spade connectors with shrink tube. I do both.

    https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B07HRHC8BW?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_image

There are spade connectors under the heat shrink.
