    I have not seen any other beers with the grüngeist hop, but I will be trying everyone I see from here on out. It’s a very unique flavor and aroma. After some research it’s apparently a pretty new strain but it’s catching on pretty fast.

    I bottled my Punkin’ Butt Ale today. The sample I tasted was very reminiscent of Pumking but the spices were quite subdued. I have read that carbonating will make spices reappear so we will see in a few weeks.

    Way on the other side of the country, in Quebec City, at Archibald, a small local chain of restaurant/pubs

    They have their own microbrasserie, make some amazing quafts

    The joufflue (white beer) is a wheat beer with a hint of IPA

    The Veuve Noire is a smooth, sweet VERY dark stout

    Both are amazing

    And the best part about being in Quebec? This is one of the few places on the planet (France and Louisiana included, LOL) where I could speak the local language and my wife couldn't....all she hears is 'dirks, dirks, dirka'

    There is a certain, albeit petty and short lived, sense of victory there

    I know I will pay for it soon

    Anyone in here make egg nog for Christmas?

    I know it’s not really beer related but I’m thinking about making Alton Brown’s recipe this year as it seems to be highly regarded.

    I think it would be cool to bottle it in beer bottles for the aging process. I’m pretty sure a half bottle per person would be more than adequate considering how much alcohol is in it.

    I am also planning an egg nog milk stout to accompany it because I am a spiced beer fiend.
