Dropped off a set of sliders earlier this week to be blasted (plan to rattle can them myself after using POR15 to prep), and a set of FJ steelies to be blasted, primered, and powder coated at Premium Powder Coating in Longmont. Quote was $100/wheel, and $150/hr for the sliders with expectation they'll take less than an hour. Working with Aaron to set it all up was a smooth process. Hopefully the rest goes that way too.

After attempting to get quotes from multiple places, I went there for a few reasons. 1. They responded to my request. CPCS, BFN, and Pro Tech didn't respond to requests sent through their web forms. 2. They had reasonable prices and would do both jobs. Foothills wouldn't do just media blasting, and Mile High PC was crazy expensive.

Was quoted 2 weeks turnaround when I dropped it all off. We'll see how it goes.

Yeah, let me know how it goes. I dropped sliders, skids, and a bed rack off at A-1 Metal Stripping to get prepped for powder coating. Should get them back near the end of this week or early next and then I’ll drop them off at Pro-Tech.

I get the impression most of these shops are a bit old fashioned. I struggled to get a response from most of them I emailed or contacted through a web form. But when I picked up the phone, they all answered. Sucks for them because they’re likely losing business by not responding to e-requests.

I was getting that impression too. But, not my problem. If they don't want to be contacted by web/email, they shouldn't have web forms and email addresses for quotes. They might have good prices for a great job, but if they can't communicate, they are definitely losing business.

Hope your jobs come out well. I'll post up some pics and comments on service when I get my gear back.

Got everything installed on the truck, it looks clean! So clean that I had to drop the freshly powdered rack and get it scratched up to make it look not so clean :annoyed:
Thankfully a little spray paint covered it and the RTT will sit over the area so we'll be ok.

Manufacturing as a whole is still very old school in communicating, (8 years in the industry). Phone calls are still the best way to go but I understand the ease of the websites. Either way, I look forward to see you guys projects!

Just got a call from ProTech that my sliders, skids, and bed rack are ready for pickup. They're charging me $150. Media blasting through A-1 was $100. $250 total isn't bad! It sounds like they were able to slip my order in with someone else's larger order which significantly reduced the cost. Pretty happy about this.

Sounds like a fashion show is in order. :) I hope I can find time this weekend to get this stuff installed.

It’s been a pretty exciting week. I close on a new house tomorrow and CBI shipped my new Moab bumper about eight weeks earlier than expected. It should arrive on Friday. I think my rear bumper will ship in a couple of weeks. I should be in full armor by the end of May.

We’re gonna have to schedule a weekend to head out and start getting this stuff banged up.

Picked up my sliders and wheels from Premium Powder Coating last night. Wheels don't exactly match the truck, but that was expected as I didn't spend the extra scratch for them to custom match the color. Sliders were so clean, I thought they were painted or powder coated silver for a second. There was NO WAY I would have gotten them that nice with a sander, especially on the welds and in the corners. Dropped them off on Monday, April 22 and was quoted 2 weeks turnaround. Exactly 2 weeks later, I got an email that they were done. Pretty happy with the whole deal so far.

    One of the wheels.

Before and after sliders, sorry, my garage isn't exactly a photo studio.

    After

Plan for finishing the sliders is pre-treat with POR15, then rattle can with self-etching primer and flat black.

I almost guessed that! I considered those sliders, but their lead times were pretty long when I was shopping. RCI ended up winning my business because they were having a 15% off tax season sale and they're local with decent lead times.

yea, lead time was a b*tch, especially since I got them on Black Friday. Figured I could live with a 12 week lead time, as I was sold on the extra beefy mounting brackets. RCI was second on my list, and I have a full set of their skids.
