I was fascinated to see that process, but when you think a bit more about it, it is genius, very little attaches to the frame. Just cut brake, fuel, drive shaft, and separate exhaust. A/C and cooling are not cracked, no wiring to amount to anything.

Yup. The hardest part in my opinion is usually having to cut the motor mount bolts off. A frame swap only really takes a day and a half if you feel like moving at a decent pace

Just because they have head studs and new gaskets doesn't mean it was done right. The ones Ford didn't under warranty didn't have the heads machined; they just slapped new gaskets in

Where'd you hike? My dad wants me to hike Mt Whitney again with him soon...we did it for his 60th birthday a few years ago. Such a brutal fucking hike but the sadist in me is leaning towards yes

You hiked a 60 mile loop? jesus christ man you're nuts lol.

Whitney wasn't all that challenging it was just really long and a ton of elevation gain (14.5k feet, tallest peak in the contiguous US). My issue the first time was that I didn't pace myself. I got to the summit 4 hours before my dad did lol. But his slow and steady approach resulted in far less physical pain for him than what I experienced afterward, especially on the way down. Next time I'll definitely pace myself better.

Slow and steady always wins the race, but I feel downhill can be tougher at times. Whitney is awesome. Id like to do it again. We were supposed to summit Mt Agassiz wich is 13,800 but it had snow in the shoot we were gonna go up and we didnt wanna bring ice axes n crampons for 60 miles lol

Few Mt Whitney pics, including a guy we came across on the trail that got put inside of a portable pressure chamber because he was unconscious and having seizures from altitude sickness. He was like that overnight before he was found, no idea if he made it or not. 21054997_10154704648802624_6809112926351648465_o.jpg 21054919_10154706582147624_2000172894651458192_o.jpg 21056082_10154704647507624_366536741759212931_o.jpg

When we were coming down from the summit he was being hiked down the trail to the valley where a helicopter was waiting to evacuate him and his wife.

nice, that's impressive. Yeah I would never do Whitney in the winter or when there's too much snow, the mountaineer's route is too 'expert level' for me.

Yeah it was. The photo I posted of him inside the chamber was actually my dad's photo, I was a couple hours ahead of him at that point and when I passed him he was being treated by park rangers/medics and was unconscious/foaming at the mouth. It was not pretty. I didn't take any photos of that of course. They had it handled though the best they could and were directing hikers carefully around him. Altitude sickness is no joke.

My dad and I were taking Diamox while hiking the trail and its supposed to prevent altitude sickness, I think it worked well. I started to feel loopy and a bit nauseous by the time I was getting near the summit, but afterward on the way back down it went away pretty quick.
