noisy as fuck! couldn't keep enough triflow in them.. i'd be lubing them up every half hour on the trail..

you could also notice steering get tighter since there's more restriction with the uniballs not being able to easily move around. my passenger side was actually hanging up basically causing the bolt to spin inside..

when kayla's went last time, they weren't that noisy but when she went to get it aligned, Brian had troubles getting a good alignment because there was so much resistance caused by the uniballs...

jack the front up, turn the truck on so you can move the tires and move them back and forth... look at your uniballs and see how well they are rotating.. are they getting hung up at all? making noise?

i talked with total chaos for a minute at FJ summit talking about uniballs and he was saying 1-2 years is expected.. if i get 2 years i'm lucky.. price ya pay for racetruck parts...

 

after waiting too long to get my arb locker fixed.. finally got a little help from our friends at Nisstec and their gear guy Brian. Brian has lots of knowledge in dana axles and was willing to help me get my bonded seal replaced and ensure my gears were still setup right... while in there, we saw the seal housing spun and was pinched against the carrier bearing caps. we also noticed that the seal housing did not sit down far enough with the shims in place where they should be, so we had to do some crafty assembly to put the shims on the outside to allow the housing to sit better creating a better seal for the seal housing o-rings.. fun..

with the bonded seal dumping shit ton of air into the housing, it of course blew out my axle seals as well.. so we had to swap out the brand new seals for some new ones while we had the axle apart...

lots of headaches caused by a failed seal from ARB, but everything is back together and going to test it out this weekend to make sure she's ready to go again...

So..... I replaced my bonded seal back in September or October last year... And the first trail I turned it on, it started leaking again.

Fuck ARB, I'll never get an air locker again.

yea i'm at that point already and i've had half the issues you've had..

cable lockers sound great right about now


at least you're out there kicking some trails' asses tho! some big name trails under your belt now

Yeah I basically run as much as possible with just open/open and turn on both lockers at the same time when I need them. It saves on gear oil pissing out of the vent for the rear.

 

i thought i was fine with just the vent until i had to adjust my drums the other day and saw my passenger side was filled with oil residue... driver side wasn't bad, but the passenger side looked like i dumped a gallon of grease on it

 

Bummer, I might just be getting lucky with mine so far. Might have to regear and get rid of the air locker sooner rather than later.

going through some pics editing for Summer TCT Issue and put this guy together... was fun playing with my new FE 70-300 G lens

 

great honestly.. love the weight reduction. they are showing some scars tho, but that was expected. if you take a drop or hit a rock right, it leaves a dent.. i had to cut my tcase skid to fit around the new position of the tcase after the marlin, so it lost some strength and bent on a couple hits.. but it bends back...

i still have to get someone to help me with an extension on my tcase skid to for better protection which will add some strength back...

as long as you aren't expecting bulletproof, but are looking to save some weight, it's a great option IMO. they will still protect the vitals even if they dent, so they still serve their purpose.

 

Cool. Im considering it. FOr a full set of 1/4'' Al skids is only 68lbs. Barely more than stock..

Price tag hurts though...haha

exactly... my whole skid set weighed less than my previous steel IFS skid.

 

yeah hard to argue that. Wish the wait time wasn't 10+ weeks too

 

Retrofit Delta Joints installed the the TC uppers... also added some coilover covers before winter shows up.

Process wasn't bad. Need to get creative for a press tool since the taper bolt gets in way. Saved some money not buying the Icon tool and using a technique from Jace using a ball joint kit press tool and a washer as a spacer.

Looking forward to no more squeaks from the uca. Greasing suggested every 3,000 miles.

 

Granted it’s after the fact, but there “tool” is 1.75” dom tube with a cap...
and I use 1.75” tube for sliders

 

exactly... why spend money on that when you can look around for something you have and make it work. i don't have 1.75" dom laying around the garage, but the ball joint kit i have has something that works. what i didn't have was a nice spacer so it can clear the taper bolt. spacer worked like a charm.

Finally got some protection for the tcase so I don't keep doing this...

 

Looks good man. I'm sure it's a page or two back but who makes your aluma skids? I miss needing skids. My poor turd is stuck on street duty in WI.
