Tacoma owners

Yeah I know which forum I'm in. I've been itching with second thoughts after buying an 07 Tacoma. You see, I'm in CA and the double cab Tundra 5.7 has lowered it's price so much it's basically the same as the Tacoma v6 prerunner that I bought. The Tundra is just a beast to look at, especially the black and you don't see so many on the road. Think about it, msrp is around 29,000 and it's dropped down to 22,000. You're pretty much driving a free truck by the time you trade it in a couple years (Minus insurance, gas, maintenance and interest). I know I'm gonna be ambushed by you Tacoma lovers but I had to get this off my chest. The Tundra was ugly at first but it's grown to be a head turner after a while. Anybody feel what I'm saying?

 

I "feel" what you are saying however your analysis is flawed.

 

I actually really like the Tundra. It is just too much truck for me. Especially with the cost of fuel. I also couldn't justify the mileage. (that and I love my Tacoma )

 

For some reason, I see the Tacoma as a truck for my younger years and the Tundra (in whatever incarnation it will be by that time) for when I get older. Dont ask me why. I guess it has something to do with what 007 said. Its just too much of a truck. It doesnt seem that agile, its friggin HUGE and the MPG scares me to death. When im older, slower and richer, the Tundra will be the truck for me. For now my Prerunner rocks.

If you like the Tundra, then maybe that is what you should have. I, however, have an '05 Tundra DoubleCab and despite loving the truck, I am shopping for a Taco. The first issue is the gas mileage. I am not going to be getting a tremendous boost in mileage from the Taco, but every little bit helps. Second, is parking. I have driven this truck since late 2004 and as parking lots shrink to pack more people in (at least in my town) it has become harder and harder to park this beast. I am tired of making 8 point turns to get out of parking spaces. The Tacoma is a great truck and offers everything that I need in a smaller package.

 

It all boils down to what you need. I dont need the tundra and i dont want one. plus i wouldn't buy the first production model, it's already proven to have multiple problems. but if you like it go for it, but you will most likely lose money when you get rid of your Taco and that may offset the discount on the Tundra

 

I looked at the Tundra's and couldn't justify the need. Perfectly happy with the Tacoma. I guess it comes down to your intended purpose and personal preferences. Age didn't play a factor in selecting the sport over the off road...just the intended purpose. Needed something to haul the bike and for general home improvement. My 2 cents.

 

In California, your commercial registration fee is likely to be more too. It's based on the weight of the vehicle (unless you have a permanent camper shell on it).

 

I did the reaserch. My time is worth too much to take a tundra for free and do the recalls.

 

No one wants to marry me so I guess i'll be OK.

 

Enjoy it while it lasts.

 

Anyone that wanted to marry me would be rejected for poor taste.
