Incorrect, they were separate packages. Though rare to find you could actually have a premium packaged truck without tech, it had leather, moonroof, jbl and a chrome bumper.

I just went on the builder for a 2019 and it shows the tech included with premium. That is for a sport it could be different for the offroad.

The builder forces you into packages that are allocated or specific to that region, it is not the say all for how a truck can be built/configured, I've owned 9 of these trucks, I assure you they are separate packages.

As was said, these were independent. You can get one, or the other, or both, but most who would bother with Premium also got the Tech, so pretty rare to find one without both.

Is that an Auto or Manual transmission? Can make a big difference in price. Judging by mention of JBL I would say Auto (since that hasn't been available in an MT so far), but the pricing is pretty low compared to what others have said, so makes me think it might be MT. Interesting to know.

Is the Blackout package factory installed or dealer installed? If it is factory I'd probably go for it, but if dealer is just going to do it, then I could probably skip it and just order it and do it myself.

My dealer also is no haggle so I think they just take a certain % off the top or have set discounts per model. I was able to custom order my 2019 and didn't have to pay MSRP.

That's what I'm wondering as well. When I priced out a 2019 with DCSB, MT, Premium, Tech, and Tonneau it was right around ~$38k. So that pricing does seem more in line with an MT, and Auto would probably be at least ~$2k higher. But as I said above, the mention of JBL flags it more as an Auto, unless they changed that for 2020 and now put that in MTs as well.

Ah makes sense, auto should be about $2k more. I was like dang. So the MT gets JBL now?

Sorry I wasn't more specific. To answer these questions:
    • Yes this is for a manual transmission
    • Need to check on the blackout package - may be port installed?
    • The allocation I was shown was for a cement OR MT with the $2295 EE package (JBL and other stuff less moonroof)

It must be different by region then. I went back to the builder and premium shows the tech package in with it. The premium package is $3690 or just the tech package for $800. The dealer might be able to order the premium without the tech but the builder doesn't give me the option.

Correct, builder forces your hand in regional build configs/allocations, you can have the dealer allocate a truck without the tech and with premium if you so choose.

Total noob question here, but I'm hoping someone can provide some guidance on negotiation.

I'd like to put a deposit down on a 2020 Pro and I'm curious how realistic it is to negotiate the rep down ANY amount. Dealers don't get many of these and I'd be putting a deposit down 6 - 8 weeks before it is available, so they know I want it and don't have many options. I have little leverage. Do I just essentially pay MSRP?

Secondly, because I'm putting a deposit down, is now the time to negotiate the total cost, or when the truck is in?

    Thanks.

I can't imagine anyone justifying $415 for the Black-out Package when emblem overlays and tailgate lettering are each like $20.

Pretty sure the OEM black out accessory backage is more than $20.

I meant the numerous ones available aftermarket. They're pretty much identical to OEM. I definitely like the look, but the price isn't there for me considering it's something simple most people can do themselves.

Super excited they split up the Tech Package and MTM. Cool feature if you're a hardcore off-road kinda driver, but I never imagined needed them so it's nice you're not stuck paying for them.

Same with Premium Package, although I think I'll splurge and go for the Moonroof and the Leather seats.

I know you've answered some of the general build questions in the past and seem to have solid info on the build process and what not (didn't you post the pic of the Cement Off Road and Voodoo Sport @ the Baja plant?) so I just wanted to confirm that by me going to my dealer, putting down a deposit and them formally submitting the allocation/build to Toyota - that this process supercedes the regional online configurator?

Not sure how I feel about JBL in the MT now if true. I'm guessing since they redid the head unit they were able to sort out whatever prevented them from putting it in there before. I will miss the discount for sure though, since I'm not a big audio person, the normal radio sound was fine. Also losing the behind seat storage to the sub.

Yes that is true. The online build tool only shows you what is in your region or earmarked to be sent there. But a dealer can put in a request for any config to have it sent to them when built.

Correct. The dealer simply modified the allocation to your specs.

Now and early on in the release is by far the worst time to negotiate a discount. There's little motivation for the dealership since people are clamoring to get their hands on a 2020. If you wait until year end, they will be more willing to discount units on the lot to move the inventory and "make their numbers" And if all holds true to the past, the Pros won't get too much dealing until near the end of the model year as there is a limited allotment each dealer gets and early in the model year these are spoken for. Of course this is just speculation. Maybe competition will drive some discounts. We'll just have to wait and see.
