That was an awesome game. I'm gonna be honest...Boise St looks pretty legit.

 

Don't understand why they threw down the field every time. All you need are a few 20 yard out routes to march down the field. But whatever. I picked it right on my fantasy stuff, so at least I get the point there. Herbstreit is wrong though, they can't hang with any team in the country. There's quite a few teams better than Va Tech that would have a field day with the Broncos.

 

Cant deny they look to be a legtimate contender, with only a possible bump in the road being Oregon St?

 

Thats the problem. They have no one in their schedule to give them fits.

VT should have won that game and I put it all on their QB. Anyone noticed how he kept getting on his teammates? Not a very high quality leader. Their fault he is a Mike Vick wannabe rather than a QB?

 

I disagree. The don't look like a legit contender. The look like a decent team that can get up to play with a good team (with a whole summer to prepare). They have the biggest cakewalk schedule EVER upcoming, so if there aren't two real undfeated teams ahead of them at the end of the year, they'll be in the NC game. I just hope they're not there against Oklahoma... we know how that could work out.

I'll be really pissed if they get in over a 1-loss SEC Champion. Alabama, for example, has to play @LSU, Auburn, Florida, Penn State, then (assuming we didn't drop one of those), we have to win the SECC (against Florida again, probably).

If we drop one of those games, but win the SECC, any person in the country not dressed like a smurf would have to agree that we're more deserving. I'd say the same thing about any SEC team put in the same situation.

I understand all the SEC one loss NC game stuff. But look @ Boise's record in BCS games. There are better teams than VT but if BS goes undefeated they deserve a NC shot. To be honest I think teams from these big conferences are a little scared of Boise. And another thing I'm not so sure the SEC is all it's hyped up to be.

 

What makes you say that? SEC has the last 4 BCS NC titles, and 5 of the last 7. They've beated opponents from the Big 12 (3x), Big 10 (2x) and ACC (1x) in the title game, and never lost once.

 

I'm not saying they don't have the best 1 team, I'm talking conference wide. Look @ there out of conference opponets. They play primarly among themselves and when they do step out it's usually for some cupcake. I'm a big Saban fan but who's to say Boise wasn't the best team on the nation last year, they were undefeated.

First, most teams play mostly within their conferences. If you had to play the conferences schedule we did, your out of conference schedule wouldn't be terribly tough, either. We play three out of conference games this year. Two are absolute cupcakes, I agree. One is Penn State. The last two years we've done the same thing. Two years ago we opened with Clemson, and last year it was Virginia Tech. We beat the dog out of both.

Of course, we also beat the dog out of the #1 team in the nation in the SECC, then beat the best of the rest out in California in January. BSU can claim the NC if they want, but two teams who were a perfect 14-0, you have to look at the quality of wins. Again, nobody not dressed like a smurf can really sat BSU deserves it more than us.

Did it cross your mind that the heads of the BCS didn't match Bama with Boise for fear that a "Super Conference" school might fall to a none BCS school in the NC game. They couldn't let that happen. Remember when the put OU in that bowl game to teach Boise a lesson. Bye the way I'm a WVU fan not Boise but I would like to see the undefeated schools play.

Didn't cross my mind... UA and Texas were #1 and #2. You don't just match them up in the top two spots. You start matching below that.

Gathered that from your name and location... and all the Go EERS comments. If there were a playoff, maybe Boise should get a shot. Until then, it'll be tough for me to be convinced the belong in the NC game if there are any undefeated or one-loss teams in real conferences.

I don't think that Boise State / TCU was put together to make money. That was a terrible match up. It was a great big "who gives a shit" game to me.

And #1 and #2 are still put together regardless.
