What do those of you that have done gears use to seal the rear diff when you install the new third member? I've heard people like the Honda-bond but I don't have any experience with it.

I had family in town this weekend and my oldest nephew is really into trucks and my brother asked if I could take him off-roading. So we loaded up the back seat with cousins and set off to hit some trails. For those of you in the Birmingham area, the trails at the end of Lakeshore. We're on the trails and everyone is having a good time and the boys are begging me to go through the mud and I'm like, "We're not going through mud. I have no idea how deep it is and no one else is out here if we get stuck." We did have to go through some mud that was just in the trail and had no issues, but I skirted the bigger holes. On the way back we came to a large hole and the boys were still begging so I said to my brother, "I think it'll be fine. Let's just hit this one." So I hit it with some momentum and immediately felt the front tires sink in. Full stop. Uh oh. No worries, I'll just back out and and go around. Hit that reverse pretty hard and you already know what happened. Rear tires sink in. Now I'm scrolling through my mental rolodex thinking who I'm gonna call. I've got traction boards in the truck bed and I feel like those will be useful, but it's about to get real dirty working with those things. So I'm sitting there working through my options, not wanting to dig in any deeper and I figure, I'm stuck, let's just drop the hammer one more time and see what happens. I cut the wheels hard and go for it. We move about an inch, but we move. So I cut the wheels hard in the other direction and miraculously we're still moving. Barely, and I mean BARELY, but we are churning our way through. Water and mud are flying, the engine is revving, I'm working that steering wheel, and we are inch by inch nearing the other side. It seemed like minutes, but we finally clawed our way out. I stopped on the other side and from the back seat I hear in a very quiet voice, "That. Was. Awesome."
Hope you guys had a great weekend.

Haha it's always that ONE puddle you decide will be ok, that is insanely deep and gets you stuck. Done it twice on my dirt bikes.
"Don't risk the puddles, some are insanely deep and will get you stuck" I say to my brother as we're about to hit the trail.
I take the lead, carefully navigating around a few dozen puddles. Finally come to one that's going to be a PITA to get around and doesn't looks like it's that bad, decide to keep my momentum and skirt just the edge of it.
Front wheel falls off a cliff, and I'm waist deep in muddy water.

@Brian422 got all around Lakeshore that day we went with his Ridge Grapplers as well, and he's 2wd! Plus, it was raining pretty hard when we went. I stay away from mud holes if I can avoid them.

Do you out there much? If you're on the main trail, you know that part where it goes into the woods for a bit? Someone had very obviously blocked it off by dragging limbs and branches across the trail. We cleared it out, but I thought it was odd.

Haha yeah, I think we put a stick in that one and knew it would be close, and had a way to easily get out though, so I didn't count it :)

I've been out there once with Brian and John. We went through a very tight section of trail that scratched my truck all up! It doesn't look too bad out there, but some of those mud holes look pretty deep. We didn't run into any obstacles that you mentioned.
