Pulled my cards yesterday. Never seen a fawn drinking milk or seen a deer bedded down near the camera. The raccoons aren’t backing down, lol.

Got a new player showed up. He’s not real tall but he’s wide. This first picture is his running partner. Look at the times they came in, the camera is correct.

You got some great deer and so does your friend. What part of VA? There are definitely some good spots here in VA but not like out west for sure. Properties are generally too small around here to really get them big.

I’m not sure exactly where but it’s an hour and 15 minutes from here so it can’t be to far across the line from NC.

That’s pretty cool because I haven’t heard on too many monsters coming out of South or Southwest VA, but nowadays big bucks seem to be easier to find across the country, but we just don’t have lots of big ones like out west. I won’t get much hunting in this year but I hope you guys can slam some big ones!

lots of paper companys own 1000's of acres so its pretty much open. where I hunt, lots of hunters though. But Ive adapted...go where they push the animals vs where the hunters are. Been pretty successful. I'd like to get a nice bull elk but a cow eats just fine or a young spike elk. White tail is the same, be nice to get a huge monster buck but a fat doe is meat in the freezer!

First legal animal within kill range for me. It’s cool to search for a big bull but but my wife and I hunt for meat. I’ve seen a lot of guys go home to an empty freezer after passing up on cows and spikes (including myself). Learned my lesson haha.

I’ll go back out and try to call some bulls in for some sweet photos if I fill my tag early enough.

Trick i found bugling is sound like young spike. A high pitched whistle is good. That gets the big ones going, and even the satellite bulls. If they cut you off bugling you know they are getting fired up

Im primarily meat hunter, but not going to pass on a nice animal

Hung a tree stand today where the big 8 started showing up. The tree is 4 feet from a creek and the stand is <20 yards from the koolaid, rocksalt and corn. I don’t usually drive my tractor to the stand, lol.

I met my wife in 1980 and married in 1984, she learned a long time ago that there’s not much that’s going to keep me out of a deer stand. I did limit my hunting while our boys were little, other than that she’s been very cool during hunting season.

If it’s sweet or salty, they will come. However all baiting and minerals are illegal in Illinois!!
