Okay so I've been trying to read up on this thread but without going through 4k posts, curious if someone can help answer this question:

Currently I have 265/70/17 BFG KO2s on the TRD pro sema wheels (4mm offset). I'm about ready to pull the trigger on upgraded suspension (~2inch lift). Part of that includes JBA UCAs...

Down the road I'd like to move to a 285/70/17 tire without having to replace my wheels. I know folks run a 285 /70/17 tire on the trd pro wheels without an issue, but I'm reading mixed messages on whether or not the tires will rub the UCAs.

Would a 285/70/17 KO2 rub the UCA on these wheels without adding a spacer? Assuming the answer is 'yes' but would love to hear some first hand info...

Even with aftermarket wheels, 285/70-17 rubbed. I used the Bora .75 spacers in front to clear the issue.

It can be done, just depends on your offset. A spacer is the equivalent to adding a more aggressive offset/backspacing.

@tacothyme You will most likely need spacers with that wheel as it isn't very aggressive in the backspacing department. If you don't want to run spacers you might want to look at going with a different wheel to run with that tire setup. That being said, I'm running 285s with 16x8 -12 offset/4.00 backspacing. No rub.

Thanks for the tips. I assumed this was the case... these T4R pro wheels don't move the tire out from the truck very far. Will just have to build in the cost of spacers to my tire upgrades. The real challenge is not upgrading before the treads wear out. Only have 4.5k on these 265/70/17 tires and already want to go bigger!

Well I got my upper control arms in yesterday, all went pretty well considering I was doing it alone. I can see where a second set of hands who would have been very helpful.

One problem though, when I was hammering the sheet metal back straight, I realized that at some point I had pinched the AC line with pliers pretty badly. The line doesn't look crimped or punctured anywhere, just pretty well bent up. I took some pictures, I'll try to edit this post when I get around to uploading them. Hopefully the line holds pressure long-term because I'd really rather not have to replace it if I don't have to.

Planning to run 16x8 3.5 bs (-25mm offset) 285/75/16. I’m considering this uca or spc. From all the research, I’ve gathered that the spc uca will allow me to move my wheel farther forward to clear the cab mount better than the JBA. Is this an accurate statement? I’d like to run JBA if possible as I think it’s a superior uca with less chance of bumping out of alignment. Anyone running my specific setups on a 3rd gen with the JBA? Am I going to have to do a super aggressive cab mount with a 33 at -25? Should I just go spc?

I’d save a buck and go with the high-caster JBAs. Both arms will be able to get you the caster you need, depending on how your alignment is. With that wheel offset you’ll need a CMC regardless of alignment. IMO, some guys can get a 285 to clear at ride height with no trimming, but every single one of those guys will rub in every driveway. No rubbing with 33s on these trucks is a myth. That being said, 33s look and perform great if your willing to trim a little, I’d say go for it

So these are just about done, repainted in red and then Epoxy Clear Coated. This is a test to see if the Epoxy Clear holds up well in the Salt Belt. To see if the Ball Joint Top Plate doesn't corrode.

If we had a winter like the last one, it will be the ultimate test.

I think I'll post them up for sale when done and get another set to do Yamaha Blue Epoxy, then Epoxy Clear.

I have 285/70/17s (32.7" dia). Will I need a spacer with the JBA UCAs? Currently I only rub on RARE occasions.

@Unchained 5150 word.. Sounds like I need some back space. 12mm offset spacer it is?

No idea I myself would never run wheels spacers. I have OEM Wheels with 255/75/17's on them and have never rubbed.

@Unchained 5150 I don't want to run them either... I might just run my wheels and say f*uck it.
