What is the consensus on best gear ratio setup for 34s and some weight in the bed? Just jump straight to 529s? I rarely go over 60 mph because I live in Hawaii. Lots of hill driving and the stock gearing already is kinda regrettable.

I’m planning on going 5.29s eventually because I know I will be adding armor to the truck so the 5.29s will still hold up

Are you already on 34s and with stock gearing?

Yeah I’m on 34s and stock gears driving on flat roads you don’t see a lot of lag but going up hill the rpm will scream at 3-4K rpm

I normally use the ect mode it keeps the rpm at a higher range I would be doing 65-70 at 1800-1900 rpm
I used to use the S mode but the it would go back to 4th gear

    Very nice.
What tires did you go with and what is your lift height with suspension only?

I drive in S5 and hold 65 on the speedo which is 70 with 285/75/17. I also had the TSB done a while back. Have no complaints. In 6th gear it cant hold its speed worth a damn, that was true with my 265/75/16. It would gradually slow down. S5 also helped my MPG some since o didn’t have to constantly adjust my speed. No ECT for me. Will be going 5.29s just in case I go 35s in the future.

Well...I not sure who to blame, the OP or everyone involved ?

Ordered some 285/75/17 Nitto Ridge grapplers in a C rating today, have a set of Ray 10’s that have been taking up space in the garage for too long.

Currently running 285/70/17’s in Hankook MT without any real rub, but will require some cutting & beating for the nitto’s.

Lastly, D-Tire wanted $283 each, I had found an ad online for $260 each. He had no problem matching that price within 1 second. He did not look or notice the 260 was before shipping, think he would have gone a bit lower.

    Anyway, thanks to all !!!!!!!!!

PS, yes...5.29’s are in my near future.

Tires arrived, just had them mounted on the ray10’s, now they get to wait a little longer :(

Too many other primary duties today, hopefully I can test fit them Saturday and see how much I’ve got to cut.

A bit taller than my hankook MT 285/70’s with about 12K miles.

A little test fitting, but they will need to wait until BMC to run them, don’t was to F them up. Will most likely install the TRD Silver center caps.

    This setup weighs 90lbs.
    SR5 4runner wheels & 285/70/17 hankook mt weighs 91.5lbs + around 3lbs for the spidertrax wheel spacer.

Ran it around the block, cycled the wheels left to right and did not rub. I think I’ll be ok until next Thursday for my BMC, so I’m running them now !

Doesn’t look like it. I think I see some Icon coilovers up front.

Looks like you have the -12 offset wheels you should be good. I need to get some SPC control arms. My Dobinson’s isn’t giving me enough alignment adjustability to clear my -38 offsets im a little over 5 degrees on each side but still rub a hair reverse driver lock. I figure I’ll go to 35s on my next go around and will need the SPCs anyway.
