Do you feel dips more in your chest or triceps?

I ask because I cannot do them so I don’t know.

Takes me right back to tearing my pec. I can still hear the sound. Almost makes my stomach uneasy. Haha.

*** not saying dips should be avoided. No clue why mine let go when it did.

No idea if I can, but I don’t have any desire to try it.

Both. Some of it depends on how you hold yourself too while doing em. I personally feel that area he has highlighted whenever I do them. Bad lol

So my brother is trying to get me to do keto, I've read that it's a bitch when you cycle off if you're not careful cause your body just soaks up the carbs. Just wondering what everyone else thinks of the Keto "diet" in general? My body responds well to just eating healthier and working out so I don't plan on doing it, the most i'll do is lower my carb intake a little but not to that full extent. I'm not looking to become a greek god by any means just to trim a little off my dad bod lol.

I am personally not a fan of keto. Here is why it's such a fad and many believe it's so great...

Food is made up of 3 macronutrients (Carbs, fats, proteins). The average person consumes majority of their food in carbs (about 50%). Now, in order to become "keto" you must limit your carb intake to sub 5% for it to be effective. So without digging into the weeds, you essentially removed 50% of your daily intake of food. Now, you are suppose to up protein on keto, and fats (only as needed to curb hunger) so, you will be adding some food back in. However, at the end of the day you are essentially eating less food (calories). Of course you're going to lose weight... you just removed half your food.

I am a firm believer in balance. If you remove carbs, that is not balance. I eat about 50% carbs, 25% protein and 25% fat. It works for me. Carbs are essential for energy... Utilize them correctly to fuel your life, not to fatten your life.

I highly suggest you watch some of Jeff's videos. The chest is a very intricate muscle and is often worked incorrectly. He helps break down how the muscle fibers are inserted and how they are run to help develop the muscle. If you fight the grain of the muscle, you will not work it correctly - this is the issue for many.

Everyone is allowed to try anything they want, but that is my suggestion on the fad. It does work for some, but often times it becomes to difficult to sustain. If your brother wants to do it, have at it. Great question to ask though.

Well, with that logic and knowledge you are going to remove billions from the fad, yo-yo diet of the week trend and most daytime TV segments. Are you trying to bring the world to a halt?? ;);)

IDK how to describe it other than "I feel it" or it seems tight. I think it's more "feel" than tightness. Most of the time I just assumed tightness. It's not exactly uncomfortable. More like I'm always aware of it and feel it as I sit, stand, move any upper body or arms, etc. It's a very minor annoyance and I'm just wondering if it's common to feel it, but not just for a week or two, or if I should go back to assuming it's just a bit tight.

I believe it's decline and flat bench for that area. But look up Jeff like Supra said. Great knowledge there.

I have the opposite problem. My bottom and outer pecs are well defined compared to inner and upper. I've been not doing flat or decline for awhile now. Strictly incline and flyes. But I still have a lot of work to do here, and focus is mostly on general strength anyways.

I did keto for 28 days last year.
I counted strictly and tracked everything. I averaged 22-25g net carbs per day.

I do not believe at any point in that time I ever got into ketosis.

I am 5’9’’ and was leaner at time (leaner than most trying it). I was10-12% BF.

    I gained 8lbs on it.

I think if you are very fit/active and a healthy body fat you will have a much harder time getting into ketosis. I was working with someone at the time who has been doing keto for 15 years. He said, some people have to basically go pure fat for 1-2 weeks to get their body to shift into ketosis. I just wasn’t that committed.

I ultimately quit because I could not eat as many veggies on the diet as I wanted. That to me was the deal breaker.

If you have a lot of body fat to lose and ultimately have a shitty diet with refined carbs galore you will benefit from keto.

I have settled with low carb instead. 100g of net carbs per day which is about 20%-25% of my cals.
I love low carb. I feel much better on it and have incredible energy. As soon as I carbs I get sluggish, bloated, and start getting GI issues which impact my workouts.

I think its unfair to call keto a fad.
It was a fad in the 80s. It’s 2019 and has a lot of scientific literature to back it up.
Its a diet that has allowed some to reverse their diabetes and has been an effective diet to control the growth of brain tumors.

Yeah, not going to lie I'm overweight and have a shitty diet. But I want to get into something that will be sustainable long term which is why i'm doing more of a low carb. I just don't see myself sticking with keto long term which will leave me back to where I started or even worse. I think having a balanced diet is more important.

Several people in my family have done keto temporarily and lost 20-30lbs and kept it off by switching to low carb.

Losing significant amounts of weight is going to require a pretty significant lifestyle change no matter which way you cut the cake.

Its just what ever is easiest for you. People like keto because you can eat as much as you want as long as its an allowed food lol

I’ve done Keto several times. I like it. After the first week and the “Keto flu” it isn’t bad. I stay relatively low carb during the summer now. I just feel better. Less bloating and just feel better overall. Then I go high carb during fall/winter to bulk back up.

I wouldn’t do Keto for long periods of time. In my opinion, it isn’t the healthiest diet to do long term. If you’re looking to trim down and shred up, sure.

Just learn a proper balanced diet where you learn portion control and all that. It’s simple and sustainable and proven
