I put in my Victory order before the price increase. I'm happy to see a vendor take pride in their work and to have positive customer service mentality. Great job @monkeyevil for being as transparent about your process. It puts many customer's minds at ease to know how seriously you run your business.

I’d love to see how you have yours set up and the overall look of the 38” light bar in the 40” cutout of the rack.

@Coolfinedonewicked sorry for the delay, got ambushed at work first thing...
    20190903_130548.jpg

I am not done with the light wiring because I have been too busy. The gutter guard isn't back on yet and the light wire is zip tied to the rack for now. This weekend hopefully...

Are you talking about the T-Slot inserts for the 8020, or the weather stripping on the leading edge of the rack?

Also, paint matched my T-Slot inserts, good ol' satin paprika.

I liked your earlier post so much I ordered some for mine, I have a rattle can of speedway blue and clear coat itching to get used. They should get here by the weekend, hoping to knock out this, the light wiring, and the surface rust spots in the engine bay by bedtime Sunday night.

Sry not able to get a picture of my truck, at work right now. but yes, here I think flatliner, you’re referring to as the gutter. This is the weather strip I am referring to. I was intending to use a Dremel and cut only where the bracket will protrude, but have seen some of you leave out the whole bracket area entirely, with the weather strip just continuing on either side. I am worried about exposure of the bracket and There being one less ‘seal’ around that area. If that makes sense... thanx guys.

I dont know about everyone but I just used dikes and end cutters and clipped out only around the brackets. Basically to the middle of the strip in each location. It looks really good that way as opposed to different pieces. I also think it holds down way better

This! I know prinsu guys usually just make holes thru theirs to fit the threads thru and only found a few pictures referring to the process on the victory rack.

What light bar did you go with? Nice clean setup you got there.

Don't do that. You want the rack feet against the roof. You can, however, cut the weatherstripping around the brackets once you install them

I have to confess that the light bar was a bit of a lower budget purchase. If it doesn't work out, I will upgrade later but I couldn't talk myself into $800 for a light. It was a 40" single row with Philips LEDs from OZ-USA on Amazon. Came complete with wiring harness for $129. It doesn't appear that the 40" size is currently available when I click the link in my order history.

@monkeyevil , is there an advantage to doing that over simply cutting them off at the point the bracket starts? or is it purely aesthetics. Frankly, I can't really imagine noticing. However, if cutting around the bracket and then filling with RTV would produce a better long term seal it would be minimal effort I suppose.

I just snagged a topper with racks that look like the right distance apart for the roof rack off craigslist for $300 this morning. YEAH me... Now to start saving for the back rack...

Purely aesthetics. My truck just has them cut at the start and end of the brackets.

Ill take some pictures when I get home, but I did a bit of both. Passenger side I just cut it up into sections with the brackets exposed (and a crap ton of RTV) and the driver side I tried to neatly trim the weatherstripping to fit perfect (Also was super liberal with the RTV).
