Thanks for the video. When we had the sc off to install the LPG system is when we changed the bypass valve and going by that video we installed and set it correctly.

Make 2 of us! It’s frustrating as hell. Even more frustrating cause this is the last thing I have to do on this Ute. Then I can start using it for work. Bloody annoying. Hopefully it gets sorted soon. I’m heading to the dyno guy today and have another chat about what he has done.

Do you have a boost gauge? What psi is full psi, with which size pulley, when the vacuum hose is disconnected?

Do you have a scan tool of any kind that can display engine timing and throttle position when boosting with the vacuum hose and without? If so, relay those timing differences with and without the vacuum hose.

 

I wish i could've found a TRD one. I was too late to the party. These are made of fiberglass though so they should be a nice alternative

 

The TRD ones were notorious for splitting on the sides.

 

i wonder how a core swap would work. a few of us get rebuildables then pass on ours to other members. just a thought. checked ebay and them pickin's were slim.

 

From what the dyno guy said it running around 6-7psi. The issue is the boost just fades away as the rpm gets higher. I have a 2.5” pulley on.

 

something is causing a leak down at a specific pressure. or its an ecu thing. my only guess.

 

if its very consistent id hedge a bet its ecu. a leak should vary slightly upon thottle demand i would think.

 

@australian hilux , forgive me if I missed your mention of it, but is your truck reflashed to what we call the “TRD Tune”? Do you know, or better yet, can you find out what your Calibration ID is? Some OBD2 scanners can display it.

I’m wondering if you’re still on a N/A calibration.

The bypass valve is only open when the engine is in vacuum. I can’t see how your engine can suddenly have vacuum starting at 3000 rpm.

This sounds to me like a fueling problem. Not like a fuel pump/pressure problem, but more like the ECU is not adding correct fueling.
