Can anyone help me? I have a 2019 Tacoma 4 cylinder and I like it a lot, but it seems to lack power sometimes. I think I have a heavy foot and it seems when the pedal is on the floorboard, I cannot get my truck to move?
When I hit the accelerator, sometimes it accelerates to over take a car, and sometimes not?
    Any suggestions?

I had a 2.7 3rd gen for 3years... not too much power plus sometimes confused tranny... sometimes it took 1 long second to take off and some other times did it like it should...

I would say your truck does not has a problem... it is the way it is... don’t know who the F mapped the auto tranny on the 3rd gen...

If it's auto, it probably is the difference between kicking down and not.

Trade it in for a 3.5. The 2.7 engine was obsolete with the single cab 2nd gen ceased production

The biggest perceived lack of power for me is the super sluggish throttle-by-wire. That delay at the beginning is a bitch.

You didn't say how many miles are on your truck so I'll respond like it has under 5000 miles.

My 2018 has 41,000 miles as of last weekend and I'm a big believer in driving it like you're mad at it as often as you can...like every time you get behind the wheel. I has done this since the first 500 miles and credit it with the fact that mine runs as good as my son's 2015 4.0. I use the Sport mode combined with the ECT as often as I can.

Do not baby this motor and it will run....

    Welcome to TW!

Not trying to be a dick here but you should get a 3.5 with MT and you will not be dissapointed. Almost same gas milage as AT and it is a pleasure to drive. Never drove 4 cyl taco tho, so cant really compare. 4 cyl with MT would be a much better combo imo.

    Good luck man:cheers:

Can confirm the 4 cylinder not the strongest and slow to accelerate but the way I see it is I'm not doing a quarter mile race so no need for it.

This sounds like something I have experienced. It's not a power problem, it's a throttle response problem. Sometimes I mash the peddle and absolutely nothing happens for a couple seconds. It's my biggest gripe about the truck.

I use one for work, a 17 SR5 . The ECT button helps tremendously . The tranny seems to lag shifting sometimes but with the ECT on, shifting is crisper , sooner.

Is there a TSB for a 2.7 stumble issue like there is for the 3.5? Wonder if it’s something similar.

I second this. I have the 3.5, but know what issue you’re pointing to. I think it may be more of a trans thing. When you put your foot down the computer seems to “guess” what you want it to do. Sometimes it will drop a few gears and accelerate other times it will just stay in the same gear and barely do anything. I have had my truck a year and don’t notice it as much. It’s all about finding the “sweet spots” with the accelerator to get it to do what you want

Sounds like a 2.7. Mine is slow but the manual helps. My 4.0 seems like a fucking rocket when I get in it now

OP, if you are real, upload pics and edit your profile to describe your truck, then let us know exactly what the conditions are (road, mountains, speed, former car that gave you this feeling of insufficient virility, etc.)
