Right now is definitely the time to buy a Pro if anyone were to want one.

2019 TRD Pro in Super White
Finally a Tacoma TRD Pro owner after lusting for one for the past 3-years. I am a bargain hunter deep down and have delayed my purchase until the Pro market settled down (now). My must haves? It had to be Super White (LB25) and have under 20 miles on the odometer.

Purchased my ‘19 Super White Tacoma Pro on Saturday evening, August 31st. I knew dealerships are hungry to meet monthly sales quotas on the last day of the month so I timed my purchase accordingly. Here are the details...

    2019 TRD Pro $45,515
    Floor mats $248
    Door edge guards $140
    Mudguards $129
    Predator steps $649

    Destination $1,095
    ______________________
    TOTAL $47,776

-My purchase price was $42,804 after the $1500 factory rebate ($4,972 discount)
-My “out the door” total price was $47,002.90

I am extremely happy with my negotiated purchase price. I ended up playing two local dealerships off each other who had identical Pro’s via text messaging. I even had the winning dealership toss in a factory bed mat to help sweeten the deal.

That’s cool man. I was right at $42.8 on the one I bought too. Discounts brought it to $45k and I haggled the rest.

I planned on ordering a 2020 but the expected price increase and zero discounts for the time being made now the time to strike. The only thing I really wanted on the 2020 were the LED headlights. Could care less about the power drivers seat, multiple cameras, CarPlay, etc. The LED headlights should have a part number soon so an upgrade may be in the works down the road. Curious, will the headlights be a simple plug and play swap?

Yeah , no way are the upgrades worth the price I’d have to pay for a 2020. The headlights and power seat are both things I can do down the road if I want to. Apple CarPlay etc I could care less about. If I dumped the price difference into my 2019 it would be one crazy truck.

This is what I have been thinking about doing on a 19 or 20 model. Lease it to keep payments down then pay off the truck after the lease is up. Not sure if you need great credit to lease though.

In general , I think leasing is absolutely throwing money away.

Similar reason why I went with 2019. If I put more miles on my car I would've not been able to sell it for as much, and figured the 2020s wouldn't have any discounts for quite a while. Additional seat adjustments would've been nice, but not for the price diff. People here have swapped out the entire headlight assembly for a new LED setup--can't just put LEDs into our models without some significant lighting issues. There are a couple good threads about that.

With the lease offers right now It’s definitely not throwing money away, at the end of 36 months I will have payed $12,700 into this truck. My residual value is 28,800 and if you add that plus the 12,700 I’m still under MSRP for the truck we bought. And I have the option of just giving it back, buying it, or selling it two months before the end of the lease because most likely the truck will still be worth somewhere in the low 30s.

Can you explain? I can say I dont know alot about leasing but I've been reading into it. I would pay the truck off in full after the lease is up.

Seems hard to think that a 3 year truck out of the main warranty would still sell for low 30's, but I haven't really looked into ones that old and I'm not even sure what truck you have!

2019 OR with tech and premium pkgs. cement grey. Round here 2016 and 2017‘s are still going for mid 30s and that’s with a lot of miles on them, for years I’ve been curious why people buy used ones when you can buy a new one for almost the same price but they still do it.

“Lease” is just a 5 letter word for “rent”. Unless you own a business and can take advantage of the IRS rules, stay away.

I did personally don’t lease. Leasing is a great option for those that want a new truck every few years. With a lease you will always be under factory warranty, there is definitely value in never paying for a repair/repairs. Another benefit is always having a new ride with the latest and greatest.
If you hold vehicles at least 5 years and accept the risks of unexpected repairs then buying is a great option too. It’s all personal preference, neither option is better than the other.

Until you realize you’re RENTING a truck and just throwing money away much faster than the truck will lose value had you bought it. This is like trying to convince people that renting a house is better than buying a house. Well, you get the idea
