Add a zero to that, and that's what got the boosted Miata to pass. I used to take it to Laguna Seca since I had no truck to carry the car with (and no CAT on the car).

I'm doing it like the po'folks; garbage bag and double bagged, inside my truck.

I learned the hard way a long time ago that trash bags and rough bed liners do not mix. Also styrofoam coolers...

Guess it's just me then; I'm a finance director at a big automotive group and we've taken a lot of 2nd and 3rd Gen Tacoma's in on trade; I took home a 2017 or 2018 Limited 4x4 one day, and was happy to bring it right back to work.

Felt so gutless. The clock was cheesy too since it was separate from the stereo. Not to mention the interior felt cheap with it's hard plastics.

I know it's supposed to be a "truck" first, but fit and finish definitely wasn't there considering what you're paying for one brand new.

That and gas mileage doesn't concern me; my daily's have always been V8's.

I can't like the 3rd Gen Tacoma even if I tried.

I did like the ZR2 Colorado, but I had seen some with transmission issues so I just steered clear of them.

The Rebel was another truck I took home; powerful, luxurious, and capable, but that damn seat gave me back pain in just the 20 minutes it takes to get home. No amount of lumbar or tilt could make it comfortable for me.

My issue with all Chrysler’s is the steering wheel. Seriously, the position in every Chrysler is off. And you feel it after any sort of a extended drive.

I think you misunderstood or typed something incorrectly? You're talking about a 3rd Gen 4Runner, when in the quote I replied to, you said 3rd Gen Tacoma.....

I do know the difference between a 2nd Gen Tacoma and 3rd Gen Tacoma as well and understand the 5th Gen 4Runner carries the 4.0 that was used in the 2nd Gen Tacoma.

With that out of the way; yes for a current generation truck, the power delivery seems to come on at the higher RPM's. I haven't looked up the torque curve but I'm sure it's on the higher end of the band, not to mention a taller gear ratio vs my 1st Gen Tacoma's 4.10.

And I'm pretty sure the truck I took home wasn't sub $40k...it was fully loaded with a roof, leather, and even that step at the corner of the bed to reach in and grab whatever one would need.

I'm fortunate enough to have a ton of cars at my disposal to look through, drive, and compare on a day to day basis. This helps me evaluate differences between one model to the next.

My opinion is just that, an opinion.

That's how I was doing it but got a tailgate swingout put on tonight, can finally mount it to the tire lol.

    20190903_201143~2.jpg

My tailgate got dented from the trasharoo on a few trips where it was fully packed.

You do have to adjust them quite a bit more than other vehicles; to me they feel at times "too close" and angled incorrectly.

Thank you for correcting me on the motor aspect, I knew they were somewhat similar.

3rd Gen 4runner was mentioned in passing and was not at all related to the comparison of a new truck (the 3rd Gen Tacoma) or anything else.

I just like the way 3rd Gen 4runners look and considering they share a lot from a 1st Gen Tacoma, I'm sure I'll love the way they drive. But again, nothing at all related to anything else I mentioned. If I had a reason to, I'd own a 3rd Gen 4runner for the hell of it.

My point is, I was completely underwhelmed by the 3rd Gen Tacoma. I hate the power delivery and I hate the cheap interior (subjective), and given the price of one, does not seem like a good value (again, subjective).

Don't have a picture, but a quick search will show you what I'm talking about -

    3502317_56a773ea9cc3e.jpg

That's the exact fold out step it had.

And I don't know how a roof wasn't an option on a limited because this one did have a sunroof on it and it didn't look like it was after-market.

    On a more important subject, I'm out of beer and I've got;

Mighty Mango Naked drinks, Dasani water bottles, an unopened 20oz Mountain Dew, an unopened 20oz Vanilla Coke (I don't even drink soda ), and Capri Sun (pacific cooler).

    Capri Sun it is :crapstorm:

Brand new 4runner's just look so badass...no other current SUV in its price range is as off-road capable either that I know of.

    Everything else is just AWD.

No clue either. There's a reason why old CNC machines are sold cheap. Aside from possibly being worn, old controls and electronics can make the machine worthless. Many are not easy to upgrade the controls & if you need replacement parts that are not available you're screwed. Unless you find someone who is familiar with a particular machine that can inspect the machine & give you advice, I'd stay far away. $1500 sounds too good to be true & would make me suspect something is wrong with it. But who knows what the story is, seller could just want it gone or they don't know anything about what they have.

Just one of those nights I'm bored and hoping to find something cool on the Heavy Machinery section on Craigslist.
