Meh. I’m also a fitness person so the work doesn’t bother me. What bothers me is how fucking heavy these 27.5+ 2.8 tires get after a while lmao

Ooooofff that’s expensive and looks mainly downhill which we don’t have a lot of in Texas but that is pretty! I met a group of people today who all had 3-5 thousand dollar bikes and not one of em had the balls to send it and take the hard lines. So now I realize it’s just like the truck world where the overlanders swear they wheel hard but realistically it’s stuff a stock Kia could do lol

That actually looks more realistic for me as well. I still don’t “need” a full suspension in Texas but I’m sure it’ll make things easier.

You like your shifter? Mines having trouble staying accurate and I’m getting tempted to upgrade the setup.

    trueeeeeeee

What’s insane is freaking wheels can cost $200-$300 a piece. Like you can almost get a couple beadlock wheels for our trucks for what a damn bike wheel that’s 2” wide cost lol

Just put on some new tires. So far I love them. They’re not super aggressive but theres a night and day difference between these and my old wtb rangers.

I had Rekon 2.8s front and back on my Middlechild, but swapped front for a 2.8 DHF. I may try Butcher & Slaughter combo next time around as the pair costs same as a single Maxxis tire.

I was looking for 2.8’s dhr’s But they don’t make them in the tan wall’s or else that’s what I would have ended up with.

YES. A lot of folks buy an expensive bike thinking that's how to get fast-but I think every hobby has those kinds of people. Golf, 4x4, musicians, etc

What did you not like about the Rangers? I was looking at the new '20 Kona Unit and they come with these in 29x2.6. It would be for mainly commuter, every day city errands bike with some trails throw in here and there when time permits. For trails only outings I would use my Middlechild.

    Yeah.
I had a Fuel EX8+, swapped out for a Remedy, and realized I am incapable of pushing the Remedy to its fullest potential -- and the Fuel just felt more natural and balanced for most of my riding. The Remedy was great going downhill at over 15 mph, but not much better than the Fuel. And it felt a lot more awkward in other more technical situations. I was only ever using 70-80% of the travel. So, I swapped back to another EX8+. Coming from many years of MTB riding, starting before suspension existed, I developed a more nimble style of riding, and I just can't seem to push those longer travel machines through their travel. If I was younger, I might have the time and cajones to develop a more aggressive style.

They’re good on really hard packed sand, but the second they get wet, they clog up. They’ll be pretty good for commuting with there low rolling resistance, but I get a bit risky on the trails and needed more bite.

My list for 29x3.0 = Maxxis Minions or Chronicle, Origin8 Tsunami, Surly Dirt wizard or knard, Panaracer Fat B nimble, replace the Bontrager chupacabras or go XR2 team issue, vittoria bombalina.........not sure what other options there are for offroad in that size. Rangers seem to be bargain to score 2 pack for $110 compared to rest.

I do ride a hardtail but I like to push it. Don’t neeeeed a FS anywhere really. They just make it smoother.

Yea i agree. I screwed up my shoulder a few years back on a gravel bike, i had to get reconstructive shoulder surgery. So im kinda hesitant on taking my hardtail on jumps. What fork do you got?
