I agree. Modifying a vehicle really narrows down your potential buyer pool when it’s time to sell. Buyers want to purchase stock vehicles! The second problem with modifying? You lose nearly every penny that you “invested” in the mods. It’s like throwing money out the window.

I did go to another Toyota dealer to drive another PRO to check for vibrations and such. Still had the vibrations but not as bad, engine still surged at 3-4k rpm, pulled to the right, there were some sonic vibrations in the steering from the exhaust. I really did not care for the PRO exhaust drone as compared to the OR.

The Chevy had no problems. I did notice the interior is soft touch with stitching everywhere and PRO was just cheap scratchy plastic everywhere.

They also wanted $53k for a $47k sticker price. Really!!! $6K ADM, that is BS. Nothing but greed. What do they think this is a GT350R!!! ?

I bought my 2019 OR because I go off-roading and plan on keeping it a long time. With new suspension, regeared and OV tune, it's better than any Pro.

If no off-roading and max 5 years ownership, I would have bought... whatever I felt like on that day of the week... (well, not really anything, 'cause I have a budget to stay within)

The OV Tune voids your warranty

It possibly does, IF you go to the dealership and announce to everyone in a loud and clear voice that you did it. Otherwise, it doesn't.

Having said that, for me the biggest difference was the regearing, not the OV tune. The tune does make a difference, but I could live without it IF I were regeared.

That is sad that someone buys a new truck and the engine/trans you have to fix yourself with an OV Tune. So then right from the get go it is messed up when you buy it.

I see it differently. For only the additional price of regearing, you get a truck that's long term reliable and off-road capable.

You really sound like you just want some sort of confirmation to not get a Tacoma. You might deny it, but that's how you come across. That's fine. If you have doubts about it, don't get it.

There is no denying that I am sceptical of Toyota now.

I just online built a Colorado ZR2 Bison. It has the DSSV suspension. Damn, that is like the ZL1 1LE. But the price is $49,500.

Toyota makes longer lasting parts. If you wanna ride it until the wheels fall off, the Tacoma is solid for 150k miles without having to repair motor, tranny, power windows, water pump, AC, etc.

If you’re gonna trade it in before anything wears off, get the Chevy.

Can't help but notice the lack of a reliability rating on the Chevy. Also, nothing on re-sale value. I bet I could guess which one wins that category...

The only reason I would choose the Chevy over the Tacoma is if I needed the additional towing capacity. Otherwise, I would go with the Tacoma.

I have no doubt that the 2Gen I had kept its value as I can testify to that. But the 3rd Gen is another story.

Says Toyota Tacoma is number 1, but overall...not so much.

What if you look into GM's new diesel motor for the 1500's. I know they're offering it on the Sierra, not sure about the Silverado though.

    Exactly what I did.
Wrong. OR with Premium and Technology comes with every bell and whistle Pro comes with and can be had for around $36k new. You'll have to add Fox suspension, fogs (I went with Morimoto instead), TRD exhaust, TRD intake, TRD wheels (I went with TRD Sema), TRD shift knob, TRD skid plate and a hood if you like the fake scoop. I spent under $4k to transform my OR in to a Pro.

I have a fully built supercharged '15 Tacoma (stock for stock 2nd gen >>>>> 3rd gen and built there is no comparison) as well as a '19 GMC Sierra 1500 SLT X31 with the 6.2L (sticker $62k, negotiated down to $47k before TTL). They are very different. The GMC gets significantly better mileage (low 20s at 80mph on the cruise control), is more comfortable, has better tech, and is worse off road for narrow trails. I spend my time in the desert and Baja so I'm fine with a bigger truck, which will get supercharged and LT etc.

You're talking as if you've owned a 3rd gen and have first hand experience with reliability & re-sale value, but I don't think that is the case. Do you have any facts to back up your claims?

As others have pointed out, your mind is already made up and you are just trolling. Go buy your Chevy...

I priced all of your parts. Just the shocks are $2400, Skid plate $600, Exhaust $700, Wheels $1000, PRO grill $400. Not to mention the 1 inch lift with different springs and your knob, intake, seats....so BS.
