Had the same issue within 300 miles of owning the truck. They ended up finding a small pinhole leak in the line that goes from the fuel tank to the charcoal canister.

I got this CEL this morning. I have about 60K miles and I've never topped off the gas tank.

Dealer: $1,300 to replace the charcoal canister and vsv valve. I'm guessing this job involves lifting the bed to access the parts?

Has anyone tried a DIY on this for a 3rd Gen? I see some posts on how-to for previous generations, probably similar. The dealer quote is definitely not in my budget. Thanks!

BTW: My Toyota dealer charges $140 to scan a code and charged me $90 to ruin my alignment last visit, was just hoping to get a warranty repair. No luck, these emissions parts are only covered for 2years/24K.

They are ripping you off !!!!!

I had mine replaced under warranty at 16,000 miles. Also had them do a tsb for the shifting issues at the same time and they had it done in 45min. And after a quick google search the parts like $400. Just do it yourself or buy the canister and take it to different shop.

Thanks Bach, they claimed to fix the alignment, but still pulling just as hard, and charged $140 for the scan. That’s the last time I’ll take my truck to the dealer. I’m going to try a new gas cap for a few days, and if that doesn’t work, I found a used 2017 canister for $75.
