Yeah, I remember you talking about that. I don't even have the stock intake. Almost guaranteed my "CAI" would suck up water.

I guess I could open the hood and rotate the filter so it's sticking straight up, lol

You're jumping to extremes in this debate, no one is saying you're going to hydrolock one way or the other. Driver skill and awareness plays the biggest role here. But there's no denying the stock intake is better sealed off than a CAI. The fender liner completely projects it from anything but complete submersion in water that would get past the liners.

Anyway this whole debate about water isn't even the primary reason I'd skip a CAI. CAIs are not "cold air" by any stretch of the imagination. The only true 'cold' air intake would be a snorkel since it's pulling air as far from the engine bay as possible. Most CAIs bring the intake inside the engine bay which is even warmer air than whats inside the wheel well

If someone gets a CAI because they like the look and sound then more power to them, but calling it cold air intake isn't true in most every case depending on the design.

Unless you have an intercooler, stop calling it a "cold air intake".

I'm kind of surprised I haven't seen one that does that actually, that would be a good way to make it a true cold air intake. Or route the intake into the cab against the AC and run it on full blast lol. Wouldn't work for me though because my AC sucks

really the best way to lower your intake air temps would be to install a methanol injection kit, even if you're N/A it can be hugely beneficial if you live in a hot climate or do any offroading

Not to mention CA smog techs would take one look under the hood and give you a big fat F on your emissions report lol.

Which is ironic considering it would actually be helping your emissions by keeping temps down and the engine operating more efficiently. But CARB is CARB and that's a whole other bag of worms

So will it fit on a body lift or not?

At least we don't have safety inspections, though. We can run around all day long with a frame rusted through, but god forbid we throw an aftermarket intake system on it.

Thought we already answered that before we started arguing with each other.

It should fit ok, but you'll likely have to modify a few things to get it to line up right.

Nope the body lift makes it so that it won't line up with the stock portion of the air intake. Since you only have a 1" body lift though you might be able to finagle it to fit, but I couldn't say for sure.

damnit man, stop contradicting me! :D

    Seriously though:

No, it will NOT fit out of the box, but given that it's only an inch, you should be able to modify it to work.

    Final answer.

    lol

well you're probably right he might be able to get it to work, I think they just say "no body lifts" as a general statement because some people have ridiculously big ones where it definitely wouldn't work. But ya with just a 1" one he may be able to figure it out but he won't be getting any help from K&N on the matter

Yeah, they just don't like saying "sure it'll work as long as you modify a bunch of stuff". Really, that's true of just about anything.

If OP has the same intake I do, sounds like he basically does, then I can't see a reason why a 1" offset couldn't be made to work out. Could be as simple as trimming the opening in the heat shield, then covering up the extra gap with... I dunno... duct tape...
