I admire the trolling and dedication to a good troll just as much as an informative response! Lol

When I purchased my new 2016 I New it was a new model Tacoma, so I entered service department phone number in my phone before I left the dealership. Lucky for me, I’ve only used it for regular servicing. I guess I’m one of the lucky ones. Hopefully you’ll have many trouble free years with your Taco. Hit MESO Customs up for some cool mods

I've been a proponent of side protection since my nerf bar saved my 1995 Jeep Wrangler when I slid into a giant boulder on a really rainy camping trip in Arizona back in 1997. Recently I had a very impatient woman who was angry with me because I was sitting in my vehicle (I guess she really wanted that spot) and she had to park next to me instead. So she threw open her Honda Civic door thinking she would leave a nice dent in my vehicle and instead hit my nerf bar it made such a wonderful resonant "ping" sound as she basically creased a part of her door and left a scratch on my bar. I couldn't help but laugh at her. I have Predator steps on my Tacoma and they are nice but probably not that friendly doing any heavy off road trails. I've seen where they have stopped the door dings already so I am happy with them.

So besides all that like others have said get the bed mat it helps a lot. I've stuck to small mods on my truck at the moment like the Subaru tweeter upgrades, OCD console and glove box organizers, seat covers, molle bed system, dash cam, gashole, and things of that nature that are quick to finish on the weekends. When the weather cools I am going to black out my existing badging, some dash features, add in some cool after market badging, and a new surround for my grille. After that I plan on finishing the speaker upgrades and install all my Meso custom purchases plus get the windows tinted. Aside from the window tinting I plan on doing everything myself. There are plenty of threads in the forum that can help or direct you to help on doing most of the smaller mods.

Down the road I will look at wheels, tires, suspension, front and back bumpers, plus other off road additions like soft topper or RTT. I might even design a few custom pieces for myself.

Above all take your time and enjoy the truck in whatever fashion you intend to use it, you can really get caught up in the mods every weekend so take breaks.

I must be honest, at first I didn't see the nerf bars as anything more than an aesthetic upgrade and maybe some obvious convenience for my girlfriend and nephews to hop in the truck, but hearing these stories gives me an entirely new perspective on how useful they are. That will be my first mod without a doubt as the simplicity of the install is a great starting point for me. When you do begin your badging mods give me a shout. I would love to see your process and ideas. As of now I am just enjoying my first car that won't be turned back into the dealership and I look forward to the future progress I have with the vehicle and learning as much as possible.

Down here in South Florida it is almost unbearable working outside at this point so I'm definitely in no rush to hit any of the heavy mods as of now. Thank you for your recommendations and your wisdom, it is much appreciated.
