We had one little band this morning that put out a decent storm, but now it's fairly calm.

 

I call bullshit! People around here are freaking the hell out and they aren't even near the coast! We are the evacuation and they lose their shit! Emptying out water and grocery stores for a windy night!

Better safe than sorry, better prepared than caught with your pants down. Less people putting themselves at risk, less rescue/recovery assets needed. Gov. just taking precautions.

Grand Bahama and Abaco got super fucked. Nothing can prepare for that.

 

Hahahah . Just realized I mean to say his sleeves were still down.....been a nightmare for us with people pre-booking flood clean up and still dealing with rescheduling cleans (not sure exactly WHO plans on moving their shit in a storm but....)

It's going to get very inconvenient and possibly uncomfortable when the AC goes out, but I don't see it being life threatening unless you are doing something stupid. If you are where it floods, it's going to flood again. This should not be a surprise.

 

Here is another I thing they said the Bahamas are made up of 700 Islands and cover 180,000 sq miles...Had to go and check this out DAMN! I had no idea....There was a a story on last night where they lost 27-34% of coast line that wont come back without dredging replenishment and would take upwards of 800 million yards or tons of sand.Was also hearing that they will be missing upwards of 70 islands that have been reduced to nothing more than a sand bar now....

The recovery of the Bahamas is going to be MASSIVE and yrs in the making

 

It's small in comparison, but my old home of New Smyrna Beach had to have something similar done to restore the beaches. This was about 15 years ago or so when we got hit with three hurricanes one after the other. I moved away not too long after that, but the same thing happened again just a few years ago, and they had to rebuild the beach all over again.

 

Before and after satellite imagery will be interesting.

Hopefully the smaller islands were uninhabited.
