Oh for sure. But if you tether, you get full resolution. You can tether with WiFi or a

    Here’s a few. Definitely not a pro.
I have realized I take a ton of photos.

Leaving The Chicago Cubs World Series championship parade/rally

I think back to that high school photo class. A field trip to downtown Chicago. We were supposed to photograph around the museums. Art museum, museum of science and industry, etc. well, hmmmm.
I didn’t do that . A couple of us Left the group, walked (ran) to Union station. Hopped a train got off the redline at Wrigley field. Walked the neighborhood. Grabbed some food. Shot pictures (black and white) of the “L” train(elevated train/subway). Took some shots of older buildings. Ok then we bought tickets for $4.00 in the bleachers. I took more pics. Stayed 2 innings, jumped a train back and slid back in with others at our assigned meeting place. We had to meet up at 5pm sharp. We laughed knowing those other 12-15 suckers in our class didn’t use their field trip as a day out.
My teacher loved the shots of the train tracks , buildings, and neighborhoods. He said you were told to take pictures of a museum. That’s when I broke out pics of rows of empty seats before the game. A non electric scoreboard, a hotdog vendor breaking change. He was impressed with the shots but I got a C.... A “C”! I argued it’s the most iconic place in Chicago.
The photo using my AE1 with some grainy bits in the black and white photo of a hotdog vendor was awesome!
My teacher was not impressed. He continued on his museum rant. Did I mention he was a White Sox fan !
    Oh well ..
Haven’t stopped clicking a camera since.

My workflow is very simple. I take all my pictures in RAW format and transfer them to my MacBook while out in the field for a backup of the shots that I've taken that day. I've got two 128GB cards in the camera and I have it set to record to both cards so if one fails I still have the shot. When I get home I'll open up LR and create a file on two separate external SSD HD's. That way I can have a copy to use on either my MacBook Pro or my iMac at home. This way I have three backups of the photos that I want to keep. I've never used Wifi or anything else to transfer photos but it seems you would lose something in the process? I don't keep any files on my Mac. I keep everything stored on external SSD HD's and develop the photos directly from them. The transfer rate is just as fast as if using the SSD in the computer. I've got four 1TB SSD HD's so I've got backups of everything in case one fails. I honestly wouldn't know how to do it any other way but that's just my workflow.

Once in LR I'll start off with white balance and go from there. Depending on how the pictures look determine how much developing I'm going to do or what I'm trying to accomplish with a particular photo.

The Mac I use at home is an iMac and it's blazingly fast with rendering photos or video.

    27" iMac 3.6GHz 8-core 9th-generation Intel Core i9 processor, Turbo Boost up to 5.0GHz

    5k Monitor

64GB 2666MHz DDR4 memory, user upgradable to 128GBs of Ram.

Radeon Pro Vega 48 with 8GB of HBM2 memory

    1TB SSD storage

The only thing that I've done to it is upgrade the memory to 64GB or RAM. I could have put 128GB's in it but for the price I just don't think I'd notice a difference. I will say one thing... Don't ever upgrade RAM through Apple. They charge $1000 just for 32GB's of RAM. I paid $375 for 64GB's and put them into the computer. Surprisingly Apple will allow you to upgrade the RAM which is unusual for an Apple product. I thought about getting the iMac Pro but right now mine is faster than an iMac Pro and the extra $2000 just didn't make sense. But I've got a little over $4000 in this computer. Nothing from Apple is cheap but I am totally invested in Apple's ecosystem and they are great for photo / video work. Plus the OS is just superior to Windows. I fucking HATE Windows. You pay a high price for Apple but you get what you pay for. It just works. Everything connects seamlessly to each other.

This MacBook Pro goes with me almost everywhere.

When it’s all said and done, I don’t think the difference is all that big as far as cost goes. Apple includes all the software where as windows makes you buy it. OSX is also far more capable than Windows. Add the developer kit and you can build almost any free software.

I have a dell inspiron 7000 15” laptop from 2015 or so. A comparable MacBook Pro was something like $1500 more expensive. I’ve upgraded to 16GB of ram and will be getting a 1TB SSD for it on Black Friday or Cyber Monday.

But... i hate Windows 10 enough at this point that it would almost be worth it to switch, especially considering everything else I have is Apple. I wish I didn’t have to get a MacBook Pro to get a 15” screen.

It’s funny you should mention hate. I just made some changes to make one of the office machines run acceptably. I really hate Windows but I don’t really have a choice at work.

It's worth it I promise. Yes they are expensive (especially when you max one out) but they just work. The OS is the most user friendly OS that I've ever used. The new MacBook Pro has finally fixed most of the issues that they had between 2016-2018 with the keyboard and a few other issues. I had thought about getting the new 16" Pro when it is released this fall but it wouldn't have made much sense, since my MacBook Pro is still extremely fast. Mine is a mid 2015 and I'm glad I bought it when I did because of all the issues they have had with the MacBook Pro the last few years. Mine has been flawless. It has never once locked up on me. The only issue I've had with it is I got an email from Apple for a battery recall. So I took it to the Apple store and they put a new battery in it for free even though it was out of warranty. So at least Apple stands behind their products. Dell, HP, ect... would never have done something like that on a four year old computer. I hate Windows with a passion. There is a reason that "most" professional photographers / cinema-photographers use Apple computers. They are worth the investment to me.

Yeah, 99% of businesses use Windows. And I suppose for good reason. Before I retired from the FD we had Windows machines and I fucking hated them. Windows 10 sucks balls.

Mac's aren't worth the money. The OS is not superior. It's supposedly user-friendly, but it's really not. The whole "they just work" is nonsense. My PC "just works" just as well. Photoshop/Lightroom work just the same on both. I can build a faster PC system for less than a Mac so I see no point in paying the Apple Tax.

Oh and I have a Dell laptop that is like 8 or 9 years old now. It still runs great and I can do Photoshop/Lightroom on it just fine. But when I bought it, I got the top of the line (I did add an SSD later), not some cheap $500 piece of junk.

To say that Apple "stands behind their products" but Dell, etc. don't - there was a recall for a faulty battery. It has nothing to do with being in or out of warranty. But I guess I can't compare as I've never had to send any Dell I've ever owned (5 or 6 over the years) in for any repairs at all....because they "just worked".

Okay lol.... You and I will just disagree then. I'll leave it at that. You have your opinion and I have mine. Neither one of us are going to change our minds and I'm not going to argue with you about it.

@OdiN1701 I’ve used both MacOS and Windows 10 enough to know that neither is necessarily “better” than the other, they’re just different. I keep computers for 5+ years, probably 10 for this Dell laptop which will be fine once I add a SSD, but since I have an Apple Watch, iPad, and iPhone a Mac will interface and work with my other devices much more seamlessly. Windows 10 is also a resource hog in my experience and it’s safety “features” have been horribly intrusive and hard to work around at times.

Windows can be a pain. I'm more of a power user and have no issue kicking open a command prompt to do things. Windows 10 runs fine for me once I turn off all the nonsense. I would still be on 7 but I can't VPN to work on 7, they have disallowed it.

MacOS cam be a pain too. I've used both. I think I'd rather use some *nix distro than MacOS.

Dude... everything we have is Apple in the house. Three iPhone Xs Max, two Apple watches, four Apple TV's, my iMac, my MacBook Pro, my wife's MacBook Air, two iPads, one iPad Pro, Apple Time Capsule 3GB Router, and a fuck ton of Apple accessories (3 Magic mouses, 1 Magic trackpad) etc... I used to build my on computers back when I was playing MMO's. But I always hated Windows. Every time I bought a laptop I'd have to do a clean install just to get rid of all the fucking bloatware that was preinstalled on the computer. When I got into photography and videography I switched over to Apple and once I did that I never looked back. It just works for me. Yes... Apple is expensive. But you get what you pay for. Call me an Apple fanboy because that is exactly what I am. They always say, never say never. But unless something happens to Apple I'll never go back to a Windows machine.

    What haven’t I changed?
Mesa Arch yesterday morning. I should have arrived sooner to get a better spot. People were already lined up in front of the arch, but the spot I wanted to be standing on was about 4 feet in front of the line. Better luck next time I hope :fingerscrossed:

Yeah you have to be the first one there to determine the line. People didn't like mine, heard some grumbling lol. But I was there first and got the shot I wanted.
