They were big Red Oaks that got blown over during the last tornado. Firewood was everywhere after the power company cleaned up. I just drove around the neighborhood collecting rounds in my trailer. Picked up about 3 cords of firewood in all!

Only the knife is made. Left two are John Neeman, right two are Gransfors Bruk. Unfortunately the John Neeman handle wood choice is too soft to stand up to hard working conditions, but the Gransfors are hickory and take a lot.

    back to bone stock.
i'm scared i recognized all of those axes. the Neemans are stunning. it would be a challenging for me to hack that beauty into a chicken neck or crusty log. yikes.

my GBA small forest axe is easier to use. i bought mine new for $80 when some japanese wood working shop went out of business. i should have bought the last three they had!! it is the funnest tool to break down my Christmas tree to get into the green bin. hehe.

The original John neeman had a bunch of weird politics a while back. Autine is one of the guys going off on his own and taking the name, while the main guys are under northmen now.

These two are the northlander forest and hatchet.

You get over it but like I said working trees and firewood, the handles are way too soft and I've chunked them pretty good :(

The small forest is easily my favorite too, although close second is their 24" forest axe with the same style head. You can just work the heck out of them and they feel good in hand while doing it!

Not mine, just interesting. Saw them in the shop when I was there last picking up a GF splitter, GF forest hatchet and a mini belt hatchet for the misses.

Are you a structural engineer or a superintendent?

Noticed the structural drawings in the background.
