    Hello guys,

I've been doing some research on this site and google and can't seem to find answers to my questions. So if it has been asked a million times and I some how missed it I apologize.

    I have found a
    2016 Tacoma TRD Sport 4WD
    64,000 miles
    2 Owners
    TRD Pro Grille
    3" front/2" rear leveling kit
    American Racing Baja wheels
    Almost new Falken Wildpeak AT3

    For $27k

My question is since some of the 2016s have the transmission issue would it steer you away from buying such a rig? I drove it and it seemed a bit sluggish on some of the gear shifting when going uphill. I thought that might have been due to the lift and larger tires. (Which I would most likely remove)

A new vehicle with same specs would be $36kish...

Thought about maybe going new SR5 4wd but that's still be $5kish more.

So thoughts? I'd appreciate any insight.

    Ben

    That’s pretty steep...

Bought my 17 DCSB OR with 6,500 miles this past January for $28.5k. It has the technology package and moonroof as well.

With Honda/Toyota/Subaru/Wrangler I just can't justify ever buying slightly used. With these high resale vehicles you really need to buy 5yrs or older for it to start making sense for me.

    a 2016 with 60k miles for $27k

Brand new 2019 2wd would be like $33k... 4wd would be like $35k.

Just don't think thats enough savings to just not buy brand new. Any maintenance or warranty issues that come up with the used one and it closes the gap even more.

It sounds a bit high to me personally....
I recently purchased a 2017 TRD Sport with 16k miles and it was "Toyota Certified" for what that's worth. It also had brand new tires and a Pro grille. But if you like the look, I wouldn't think it's too far out of the price range.

Best of luck with the decision!

2 owners and 66k..oooo nope. Way better deals than that OP! You can probably get a new one in a month or two for around 34k. I’d hold out if I were you.

Ok looks like I should not buy this... I appreciate all of the responses. Wish Tacos weren't so freakin expensive used, but I know a new one will hold it's value extremely well and I plan on keeping this truck for quite a while. A cement gray SR5 may be incoming...

Better off with new as you don’t know the history on used and being the first year of the new design it’s better to pass.

I was in the same predicament a few years ago. In my personal opinion, it is better to buy tacos new since they hold their value so well.
Hope this helps! Good luck with the search

I want maximum bucks for my Tacoma like everyone else when I sell.
Its funny seeing everyone on here saying that's way to much for a used Tacoma then in the next post going yeah we have the best resale value and these trucks are the most reliable. Supposedly we can get 300K to 500K miles or more out of our trucks.
The $27K is the asking price, see what you can do to get it down some more. If the vin is clean.
I'd look for an Offroad though if I was buying.

I tried talking him down and he won't budge from $27k, I don't think he's really wanting to sell it after talking to him when I test drove it.

There is no transmission issues with the 16. It is exactly like new models if you flash the software. This myth seems to continue.

All these people saying it's way too high. What are they expecting to buy this truck at? 22k? It seems about right to me. Maybe ask for $500-$1000 less if anything.

Just bought my 2017 Sport with 36k miles, tech package, TRD Pro Grill for 27k plus they went above my expectation on my trade in. Better deals are out there to be had and two previous owners would give me hesitation as well.

I'd point out the spacer lift is not the best, unless he raised the bump stops on the Lower control arms. Its not worth anything really. Did he put on aftermarket UCAs?
If he has Kings or something like that on for suspension then thats good!
