    Update : Corner Blinker/Running Lights 8/25/2019

Installed LED bulbs in new side marker lights.
Used a step bit to get the hole just right.

I chose to solder the connection instead of using crimp fittings for a longer lasting install.

I didn’t have wire loom on hand so I just wrapped the wiring with electric tape for now. I’ll get some loom and finish the job the right way soon.

Even though they are not OEM, I feel like the fit is close and definitely good enough for me.

Looks good man...when I ditched my front bumper for my Demello I had to do the same thing. Did you not have blinkers before this or just different lights since I think you have been running your tube bumper for a little while.

I have been running without blinkers up front since the bumper work started.

My factory corner lights were going to get this treatment but my radiator sprung a leak about the time I ordered the parts. When I dug into it to replace the radiator the little plastic ears broke off of the factory corner lights so I’ve been running without them since the new radiator swap.

I haven’t gotten to the bottom of it yet. The schematic that was posted in the ‘what have you done’ thread was inaccurate. The wire I cut actually made it so the DRLs are always on including when the truck is in Park and the Parking brake activated.

This became a hot topic for me because I replaced my head light bulbs last Nov. last week on Friday the passenger side bulb burnt out. I couldn’t believe it burnt so quickly so I called O’Reilly to complain. The salesman I spoke with reminded me I have a one year warranty with those bulbs and that it likely due to the DRLs being on and with as much as I drive, he said it’s not uncommon.

That was my one complaint about the side corner lights...damn tab broke all the time. Since I used to run the clear (white) ones with no yellow it sucked having to replace at the time.

I did a little digging and found these 2 threads that appear to have the correct answer to your dilemma. Not sure if you found these yet or not. There is a wiring diagram .pdf file attached to the first one that has more detail than what you originally found.

So it looks like instead of the Green/White wire that is linked to the parking brake that you were lead to believe the first time around, it looks like it is actually the White/Green wire next to it that is specific to the DRLs and leads to the relay controlling them.

Here are the threads. The tacomaworld one links to the yotatech thread.

I bet.i want to upgrade my harness and bulbs too.

Did you see. Or understand about the wire being in the passenger side kick panel for the later models? Did you try just unplugging the relay?

I haven't yet. I found this write up by @turbodb that i plan to follow as best as possible. I am very hesitant now about willy nilly cutting wires.
Part of the problem I'm having is that i don't seem to have the colored wires that other's have posted about and my DRL relay has like 10 wires coming out of it.

I was thinking about asking him for more details but that post says Aug of 2001. I'm not sure if he'll remember all the details.

So... that was long before I knew anything about how the truck really worked. I mean, not like the little I know now, hahahahaha.

But, if you have the FSM wiring diagram for an '03, I should be able to tell you if you can do the same thing I did to my '00. And I'm happy to poke around in the engine bay of mine if we come up with any questions about how I did it, that I don't remember.

Well, bad news. Or at least - not "great" news. You can't do the same mod I did b/c while my DRLs go directly to ground (which is what I interrupted), yours head back into the DRL Relay Main and I have no idea what switching that would do...

That said... this part of the wiring diagram looks promising to me. Sorry for the crappy screenshot - having JPGs instead of an attached PDF makes it all really hard to read (I'm hoping you have PDFs, and they are clearer than what got posted to TW).

Looks to me like, in the center of this pic is a 7.5A DRL fuse. What happens if you pull that? Seems to me that pulling it will prevent the "DRL Relay 4" from ever switching on, hopefully keeping the DRLs off.

No worries. I think I was able to make out enough for the response/suggestion above.

For PDFs - next to the 'Post Reply' button under where you type your response, there's an Upload a File button. If you click on that, there are several file types you can attach to a post. PDF is one of them.
