Oedro or Tyger Nerf bars

Feeling like I’m splitting hairs here but any recommendations to go with one over the other? They seem like pretty comparable construction and looks.

Oedro is $200 on eBay. My concern is the bracket and lack of reviews.

Tyger steps are slightly more expensive $289. Concern is the lame stars and logo on the step. I’ve seen some people cover it up with strips from Harbor Freight.

Are you just looking for the "look" of sliders? If so, sure... both will probably handle the weight of a human on them for a while. They're both likely made out of soviet era recycled chinesium that would rust/explode when they see a pebble, but again, if you're looking for nothing but slider like step.... why not?

 

I believe they are literally the same thing just branded differently. I've seen a few TW members get the Oedro without any complaints.

 

The Tyger product has a better build quality, rave reviews, and great cs. Whereas Oedro seems to be hit/miss with their product (brackets don't always line up, protective coating flakes, terrible welds). Personally I'd apply my "$" towards better offerings.

I ended up going with Tyger steps. Purchased through Amazon for $289. Packaging came slightly damaged although no damage to the actual steps. The hardware was missing and I had read a lot of complaints about that happening, so no real surprise there. I reached out to Tyger for new hardware and they shipped it out promptly without much hassle.

@z00mer you’re right. The quality and build definitely exceeded my expectations. The looks are great too but the functionality just isn’t there. They’re really no help getting into the truck and as my wife keeps telling me they really just get in the way and make it more difficult for her. So after being on my truck for 3 weeks I’ll be taking them off and returning to amazon. Fortunately I saved all the packaging so it should be a fairly painless process.

 

The hardware was missing?
Tyger is usually on spot with its orders. I had their "Blades" for about a week, but I found their placement to be just a tad annoying. My gf would constantly complain about her pant leg rubbing on them whenever entering or egressing (she's 5"9 btw).
Honestly, I like the placement of the OEM side steps seem to be spot on, but as for the price...

 

The Tyger steps are solid. They are clearly NOT rock sliders, but mine have still taken a lot of abuse, including thousands of rocks/pebbles pinging their undersides. No rust, powder coat is holding up spectacularly, they literally look like brand new nearly 3 years after I put them on... They are not cheap material as their price would suggest either, weighing in at 90 lbs for the set these are not chinesium that explode

I don't rock slide (and I suspect many many folks WITH sliders, rarely see true rock crawling scenarios...), but I spend a fair amount of time on gravel, loose rock, and old logging roads and have certainly "tapped" the bottom of these several times with no damage to the steps nor my rocker panels where these attach. I'd never support the full weight of the truck on them given where they mount, but for what they are it was one of the best value mods I've done.

My primary use for these is to have a wide, flat space to stand on when accessing gear on my Prinsu cabrac, and for my wife to be able to get into the truck easier. Yes, they sit a bit high for a step, but my wife uses them every time she gets into the truck and was thankful when I installed them.

 

I personally would avoid Tyger. I ordered those steps on Amazon. The rear mount on the driver side was off by probably a half inch(if you check a few of the other reviews it is the exact same problem that I had). I called them up and customer service said they would have a new pair sent out. Then the following morning they said the tech looked at the pictures and said it was right and I quote, "you can use a soft hammer to make small adjustment." I can obviously do that, but the point is they are designed for the truck and I don't want to spend the time hitting something with a hammer that should just work out of the box. Not to mention telling a customer they have a new set coming out in writing then to turn around and say I need to hit what I have with a hammer or return them to amazon is horrid customer service. I have since returned them to amazon and ordered Avid Off-Road frame bolt on sliders. Just remember you get what you pay for.

 

I got the Carid (aps) aluminum steps. The box of brackets and bolts weighed more than the steps. So far they are ok..

 

I had the Tyger bars. Really nice, seemed solid. My only concern was they hung a bit low and was afraid I'd end up on a rock someday and damage something. Sold and got sliders. I'm not into hard core offroading or anything, but I do take it off road and sliders just make more sense.

Drove this recently. Only a few light hits on the sliders but pretty sure the Tyger bars would have been a liability.

Sorry I got here late. So you ordered the tyger, the box was damaged and shipment missing all hardware? My experience with them was not heathy and worst of all they are not vet friendly. Enough said.

 

Hello Sir, can you clarify what "Vet friendly" means? Seen those words a lot lately, just wondering what it means.

Emailed Oedro and they replied that it would not fit a 2019 Tacoma 4 door... They have me confused, below is the reply. Guess I’ll purchase my second choice, Rhino. Thought double cab/crew was the same vs access cab. Maybe lost in translation?

heading into my 3rd winter in northeast pa. with my tyger steps, very little rust,heavy duty, previous steps were NFAB. they had large pieces of paint and rust falling off after 3 months, luckily i bought them from Amazon, and they refunded my money and told me to keep them.. NFAB was no help..

i bought my tyger steps from amazon also,, FYI

 

I'm ok with my Tygers, but I like the look of the Oedro's better. But neither will be as good as real Sliders.
