Got pulled over yesterday for not having mud flaps. I have had the truck for 5 years now and have never had a problem. I wouldn't bother putting any on if I got pulled over anywhere else, however it was in Pullman where I go to school so I'm likely to pass that same cop a lot. Are there cheaper options beside OEM that are decent?

Swapped the tan column trim for a set of Black trim off a 4Runner. I think it looks better with the black wheel than the tan.

Also, the PO of my truck smoked in it. Its crazy how that ash gets everywhere. Took off the old trim, sure enough a lot of ash in there. :puke:

I've done a mod or two
Having gone to college at Eastern, I feel your pain, North Idaho will get you for the flaps as well. I'd personally ignore it, I have always gotten verbally warned for that and the front plate (which I never put on). I got pulled over once around Pullman actually for the plate, but it's easy enough to get some conduit brackets and a gas station heavy mudflap and cut it in half and make it work.

It's gonna take a little getting used to but I think I'll be okay, I'm more happy to have freed up some more bed space by getting the spare and my jerry cans out if it. With the low profile Avid rack it really limits useable space.

Wss thinking about maybe making some kind of fold out table for the inside of the swing out to make up for the lack of tail gate (to set stuff down on, cook on, etc.) Gonna have to play with some ideaa

its totally different than what i have

are you going to re-upholster them?

I’ve already attempted it on a second gen. I found 2 problems with it that prevented me from continuing with its development.
First is the structure of dual gates adds considerably more weight to an already heavy item that’s replacing the 40 some odd pounds of tailgate you’re removing. This adds more stress to the aft portion of the bed and I’m concerned about distortion or weakening of the sheet metal that may not present itself until its already done a bunch of damage to other parts of the bed.

Secondly, and it goes hand in hand with the first concern, is that latching the dual swings in the middle of the bed creates a weak spot where the uprights of the bed and frame of the carrier are now allowed to flex and bow in and out. With nowhere to latch the swings at the top, there’s now a weak spot and puts more stress at the bottom and single latching point. The single swing braces everything together when the gate is shut so it strengthens and reinforces the end of the bed while you’re bouncing around on the trails.

I’d still want to try it, but it’s a ways away from being anything I’d put my name on or comfortably sell for anyone to use on their truck.

It’s electric lumbar. 01-04 came with them, and all 01-04 Tacoma’s with power options (windows, mirrors, locks, etc..) are pre wired for the electric lumbar. I’m not gonna re-upholster them. They’re in great shape, just need to be cleaned. Besides, the upholstery matches the back seat. I got them shipped to me from a junkyard in New Hampshire. I found them on car-part.com

where did you get them? maybe they have a spare bottom seat frame assembly :notsure: something broke in mine recently (spring, bolt, bushing not really sure) and i don't have a clue where or how to get it fixed! my searches so far have been pure dead ends
my lumbar lever/switch is manual so something like that may not fit my seats bolt pattern but you never know

I edited my post just a second ago. I got them sent to me from a junkyard in New Hampshire. I found them through car-part.com. Give that a try, you might find something there! Just be prepared to pay. I paid $100 for each seat, plus $250 freight shipping to my dealer

thanks!, i had something sent to me from LKQ corp from a 4Runner of the same year as my truck but that one must've been flooded out and rusty garbage seat for $90

i have already asked @Running Man about his part out seats that i think would be direct fit but not sure if he is able to come through for me yet
it would be nice to just be able to fix whatever is broken or loose!

Looks great now with the black.

I did briefly. I didn't like how much my phone bounced around and was unreadable using it. If you use a very, very short mounting arm AND don't drive off-road you may have better luck.
