Bird Poop and Stained Paint

Bird poop can be pretty acidic and will burn your paint or leave it with a crystallized appearance. Your paint might be damaged at this point. Really, you should keep it waxed and clean off any poop immediately an hit it with some wax after that. You don't ever want to leave it on your car. Be careful cleaning it because bird poop can contain grit (scratches) and birds can carry diseases transmittable to humans.

 

Just as an update, my local detailer was about to get some off with a compound and clay bar but I’ve made a full appointment on Friday to have it detailed. He isn’t sure he can get it all.

 

Or ceramic coating is even better. Im so glad i did mine.

 

Def try clay bar. Any polishing compound can remove it as well. Unnecessary to contact your insurance company.

 

Two thumbs up on ceramic coating. Just hose it off and blow dry and hit the road.

 

Insurance would probably deny this claim as they probably would say it should have been removed sooner than later, thus negligence caused the issue.

 

I was going to say a GOOD detailer will get most if not all off, but I see you have already gone to one. Some of these guys can work wonders.

If a clay bar doesn't get it out you may be in trouble. If it's just clearcoat staining you could use a semi aggresive compound but unfortunately after two weeks the acid in most bird poop has had plenty of time to eat through the clear coat and not only stain the clearcoat but also stain the base color. I used tell my customers (retired self employed detailer of 30 years) if you do nothing else between details remove bird shit and tree sap as quickly as possible to prevent what will most likely be permanent damage. The acids in these two evil compounds of nature are the two fastest destroyers of automotive paint. Call your insurance company and see what they say but I'd tell them it happens less than 72 hours ago or they may deny your claim. Ask my customers how I know this. Anyway good luck with your paint and hope it all works out

 

No clear coat on the whites from what I've heard

Single stage paint can be rubbed out and color sanded if needed. The insurance company’s would look at this as neglect and not pay.
