    Haha not a bad guess.

ADT (and pretty much every other security companies software) is written by one company and then rebranded for each. I know cause I used to work for that company :luvya:

Home security systems are "feel good" crap that doesn't actually do anything... Change my mind

That's exactly it. I wrote security system software for 3 years and it was all about perception and not function

The signs are more effective than the system.

It's just like how @eon_blue 's RTT cable lock is for emotional support only. :luvya:

This is true, on both accounts. Even your chains and locks would have taken me 3mins at most, the best thing they had going for them was they're loud. Ryans cable isn't even loud, I could have it off in less the 10 seconds and be silent about it

I'm basically on track to be estranged from my family so it's not a big issue.

Partially, the ones that act as fire alarms are slightly more useful, calling 911 on a burglary doesn't do shit. The alarm doesn't go immediately into panic and even then the response rate of police is sad in most areas so people can still make off with whatever they want after slaughtering whatever they please. They're only useful in that they essentially put a timer on theft or murder

Dad's factory has an old Honeywell system and they'd call him every time the motion detector goes off. They never bother checking it because 99% of the time, it's a cobweb or some angry moth that set it off.

Damn alarm didn't do anything when someone cut through the fence and stole the two 3 Phase motors off the industrial condenser outside...
