Dog seems like a good one as preventative, never seen a gun do much of anything when the owner is away, unless the criminal is using it to kill the guard dog.

I've kind of thought the same but they definitely have an aversion to strangers and trespassers

I put motion alarms on our front/back porch earlier this year and all its accomplished thus far is scaring the shit out of us at 3am when a cat or a bird moves in front of it.

Had a string of robberies/home invasions in or town last year that prompted me to do it, but I think we need something more refined. I think it really just depends on where you live. If someone is going to break in I'd rather have some warning than none at all. I dunno. Just further evidence we need to move out of the city more than anything.

Psyching them out is probably the most effective and cheapest form of security. I guess you could always be the weirdo constantly watching his cameras from his hideout too, but that seems more like organized fear than security.

Welp, got the answer we needed. Definetely time to say bye to my Rosie. Went from bad to worse this morning. Cant even get traction to stand up on the rough concrete back porch. Balling my eyes out right now.

Good to know that her pain will be all over in about an hour.

Edit: Its done. Vet said we made the right choice.

Well said. I think this forum does one thing well, and that's make people overly paranoid about rust.

Here lately Im with holding from posting in any thread besides the two BS threads, as there are too many differing opinions of how to approach otherwise simple problems. You can catch a lot of flak for simply going against the flow of responses.

No such thing as being overly paranoid about rust!! Rust is the devil!! Rust has been the death of almost every vehicle that I have owned, starting in the mid-70's.

Of course she decides to croak right after we buy a new bag of premium dog food:p. Most of her stuff is gonna be donated to the same place we got her 14 years ago.
