I tend to post my angle on it once and then just watch. If they ask for more info, then I give it. But I'm well past trying to convince people of anything.

Idk, we'll see. Could go either way as their reasons for not getting another are pretty good, but my mom has had a softspot for labradoodles here lately.

After spending a ton of time around dogs my whole life both at home and in the shelter, you’ll often hear folks mention “they’ll let you know when it’s time”. The truth is, they just don’t. A great dog is so loyal to the family that they would do anything to stick around another day, solely for you. It’s up to a great owner like yourself to know when it’s time to let go, I am truly so sorry for your loss. Wishing the best for you and the family, from the bottom of my heart.

The day we had scheduled to take our dog in was rough because of course she was having one of her 'good days' that morning, seeing her look somewhat normal and happy in the car ride with all of us over to the vet knowing we were going to put her down was one of the hardest things I've done. But without the blood transfusions it was a matter of time before she was in pain again. Fuck it's been almost 13 years since that happened and it still makes me choke up thinking about it. That dog was with me through all the moving around we did as kids growing up, bouncing from high school to high school, so her and I were really close.

Somewhere between then and now I somehow ended up with 3 cats...

Don't your parents breed the little dinguses, I'd be surprised if I could do that and not end up with one from each litter haha

I cried more for my dog than I did at any funerals Ive been to. Just goes to show that I liked her more than most people.

That definetly didnt happen today. She was determined to stand up, but just couldnt no matter what. Had to be carried to the car. I didnt go to the vets, but my mom said it was a very calm setting and she went peacefully.

I have no idea to be honest, never shipped one.

It’ll be awhile before they have another litter, their new male (black dude) is still too young.

Wife is pushing real hard for us to get a dog before the baby comes, probably gonna happen sometime before Thanksgiving. Neither one of us wants a small dog either, so it's gotta be something of the bigger variety but also not super hyper and need a ton of space like a Border Collie because we don't have a lot of room (2 bedroom/1 bath small house). Smallish backyard but not tiny.

I grew up with a Golden Retriever and a Lab but I remember them having a ton of energy all the time, probably need something a little more calm. Also going to be limited to what we find at the shelters, not gonna buy from a breeder or a store.

Yeah I have a lot of respect for veterinarians. Takes a lot of emotional fortitude to love animals enough to make a career out of helping them, but to also have to deal with putting them down regularly as well. I don't know that I could do it.

Before a baby comes? Thats like the worst time to get one lol. The dog will be old news the minute Eon JR shoes up.

Labs are funny, one of ours is but sack crazy, a freakin weirdo. The other three just derp around, not giving much cares about anything but the family.

Nah it wouldn't be like that. Cats would probably get less attention though lol. But usually it's recommended to have the dog come first so it's familiar with you and the house and situated. Trying to do that after the baby would be a nightmare and we'd probably have to wait a couple more years on getting the dog at least.
