My friend got all three of her collies from shelters. The calmest one is a former show Collie, like all she wants is you to pet her but she doesn't jump or anything, she just uses the world's longest snout to get your attention. The other two are energetic but not bounce off the walls energetic, they'll play fetch but eventually run out of energy and just chill. So maybe a collie (not border collie, not actually related breeds really) is a closer match. I was able to leave them inside for 6 hours no problem, along with 9 cats. Has me considering one, they were only a year and change old too.

Shorthair is in the front, I'd never seen one before so I didn't know shorthair collies were a thing.

My buddy has 3 dogs, probably looking to get rid of one when he becomes a dad here soon. Babies and dogs may look all cute, but the minute the dog messes up the kid its time to get rid of the dog.

Id wait until the kid is 2 or 3 so you dont have to worry as much about leaving the kid alone with the dog as much.

Nice looking pups, my brother and his wife have a mini border Collie mix and that thing needs to run at least 100 miles a day lol. We'll probably look into an adult dog too so we don't have to go through the training process that a puppy requires, and it'll be more likely to be calm.

I worked at an animal rescue center for a couple years right after college doing photos for their website (adoption pics), believe me I would never surrender an animal for any reason unless it proved to be genuinely dangerous to people in a way that couldn't be remedied. People that dump their pets because they deem them to be inconvenient are the lowest of low, IMO

They're adorable, I was expecting a hectic week keeping them in check but honestly they were easy. For the longest time I've been considering an Aussie, but the collies seem like a better option for me. Though I really wouldn't mind walking more often, don't have any good reason not to haha.

Mine was a lab Aussie mix. My mom did the math this morning, the two of them had walked over 5,500 miles over 14 years. That dog just flat out loved walks.

Our golden retriever growing up would get crazy excited if she heard the word 'walk', so any time we had to use it in the house we'd have to spell it out w-a-l-k otherwise she would go nuts

If it comes to that I just might have to, what sucks though is that at least here in CA when you get a jury summons in the mail, you have to call in every night of the week and listen to a voice recording that tells you if you need to 'report for duty' the following morning. So I won't get a chance to tell them I'm a hateful anarchist unless they force me to take the day off and go down to the court house to report.

So far I've lucked out and haven't had to go in, but I have to call in tonight to see about tomorrow. I think after Friday I'm in the clear

When i had to go i spent the whole time thinking of a excuse to leave when its my turn. Then they go and pick a jury and I didn’t get to say anything.
