With aftermarket Roof Rack such as Yakima and Thule you don't need to remove those. The landing pads actually sit right on top of them. I have the Yakima Jetstream System with an awning and bike attachments.

Just tape the unused holes or use some silicone caulking to prevent leaking.

How noisy is that rig with and w/o the awning?

This looks like my next mod. Close to ideal even.

And, damn you sir, in advance.

I used clear, flexible bath and kitchen caulk on the first 1.5" - 2" of thread when I installed my prinsu 5-6 years ago. Zero issues.

When installing your prinsu did you cut the weather stripping or put holes in it to accommodate the prinsu bolts?

I'd get a bigger awning, but I like this rack a lot. Not impressed with the Prinsu...

Snug top Rebel, Thule tracks, ditch tracks, Bagged rear suspension, F/R anytime camera, intermittent wiper switch...
Rhino racks makes ditch mounted tracks for double cabs. I put them on my Access cab last year and no leaks through winter or car washes. They are like shell mounted tracks but are shaped to fit in the ditch channel so they are flush with the cab roof. They let me use my Thule bars on either the cab roof, the cap roof, or both for long stuff(like 20' lumber sticks or extension ladders). Removing the bars is easy either leaving the landing pads or removing the bases entirely.
