Recommendation for LED Head Light Bulbs for 2017 TRD PRO

SV4’s or Diode Dynamic SL1’s will be my 2nd option if the OEM LED headlight assemblies are too pricey.

Lol good looking out El Duderino. If you stumble across this thread and happen to read this, click that link above. Lots of good proven information. It's the reason why I went with the GE +130 Halogens. This thread you are currently on is for some of us still holding on to that hope of running LED's in our stock projectors lol.

 

I'm using Xtreme LED Pro's (hi & lo beams, plus fogs), which are "adjustable", as the orientation of the inner "lights" can be clocked to any desired position. Making adjustments made a noticeable impact on the performance in some cases. After "tuning", the LED's easily beat the factory halogens in my opinion (cleaner, whiter, and seemingly brighter).

Perhaps they're all adjustable, I dunno... YMMV

Opinion and scientific fact are two different things. I really really wish there was a drop in LED that worked great but sadly they all so far have failed in our headlamps

 

I have xenon depot HID kit for my low beams. Just installed the Morimoto 2 Stroke LED for my High Beams. The light is so much brighter from my high beams that I have a hard time seeing my low beams at night when my high beams are on.

 

Do you think that orientation of the LED in the housing has no effect on perceived performance?

 

I can guarantee it helped a lot when I installed my LED's

 

It’s the way the diodes are places on the stick is one reason the other reason is led light(our housing isn’t made for) isnt omnidirectional light like halogen lights(what our housing is made for) you don’t get the proper throw and distance with LEDs. again read the link. I had VLEDs in for a two nights and realized they were garbage. Unless you can get an omnidirectional led which doesn’t exist for our headlights your selling yourself short on lighting performance.

 

Has anyone installed Diode Dynamics SL1 LED’s? Not cheap at $150 per bulb but made in the USA and a three year warranty.

 

That is what I am running. You can catch them for 20% off. Plug and play. $150 for the pair. I exchanged all exterior and interior lights to Diode Dynamics. A week after installing led turn signals the tail lights, rear license plate lights, and front sidemarkers were not working. I worked backwards with the led install to check for proper function. While doing so added dielectric grease to each socket. I have not had any issues since then.

 

Check the thread I linked. They were tested and came up terrible.

I've read the thread. I don't have those issues and I would bet issues were caused either by cheap LED's tested or ignorance (not placing fault to the one who tested them).
Sure, HID's are brighter, but I guarantee my LED's throw further, are brighter, and have a better beam pattern than stock halogen.

Your entitled to your opinion. The man is a lighting engineer and did non objective testing using the same equipment and testing over and over again. By the way your LEDs(Dynamic Diode) were tested and they came up short. I’m just sick of being blinded by oncoming drivers that have to aim there headlights up to get the cut off and trying get to spend the science behind it.

 

I would love a drop in LED upgrade but sadly everytime one is tested the numbers prove it’s not an upgrade sadly.

 

1. You may be correct about Diode Dynamics... The ones I have aren't those and haven't been tested when I read through the thread. In fact, I just did ANOTHER search through the thread and not once was it tested (although it was suggested by another member).
2. Headlights are level (as evident in the pictures I provided) so I never get flashed by other drivers and have never been told by anyone that they're even close to "blinding" them. The beam pattern is what matters.

1. Believe what you want big guy I’m not going to sit here and debate you when so far every single led light tested came up short. Do you not see the trend. Unless you have LEDs that magically changes the law of physics they come up short. Our housing isn’t designed for LEDs because the light source direction is different then what it was designed for(square peg round hole type stuff). Just because you aren’t being flashed doesn’t mean you’re not blinding people. You can argue with me but you can’t argue the science.
