You wanna have some fun, then find you a good tree to sit against deep in the woods just before daylight. Once the sun starts peeking, hoot like an owl a few times. Wait about 15 secs. Do it again. Follow that up with a couple of crow caws. Then the owl call again. Then 3 or 4 more crow caws. Owl call a couple of more times. Crow caws about 5 or six times.

Then just sit back and wait. Real quick like, the skies above you will turn into WWII with black crows coming over to harass the owl they think is there. Had a LOT of fun doing that when I was younger.

Shit an owl flew and landed in the tree i was in and like 30 crows were all over him. deer gone, owl flew off it was all over.all i needed was 15 more seconds before that happened. we owl hoot to get gobblers to shock gobble on roost.

Oh, I believe it!!! i have seen some stuff in the woods in my days. The funny thing about doing what I do is when the crows finally realize I am the owl. It is like being at a bar that has run out of booze. Ok BYE, SEE YA, SAY WHAT, Time to gooooooooo....

    True story.

I am out in the back yard one night a few years back trying to call some owls up. Got one hooting up the hill from me. Here we go. So I start hooting back, changing my tones and reps of hoots to get it to come down. It keeps doing the same. This goes on for about half an hour. Usually you can call an interested owl to you in about 10 to 15 minutes or it goes quiet. Cell phone rings. My neighbor up the street who is a friend of mine and a woodsman himself, asks me: "Is that you hooting down there?"
To which my reply is: "Yeah, thats me. Is that you answering"
To which his reply is: "Yep!"

We got a good laugh out of that night!!

God takes us when He is ready. Jesus died for us so God would consider taking us. I can just only hope I am on one of His lists. I certainly hope your neighbor was.

Before they turned that into a book they had a website you could go to and see the pictures not sure if it is still up. Wasted many a hour checking them out .

I mostly have uncomplimentary anecdotes about grackles and the occasional mockingbird.

Oh, and all geese are dicks. Anyone who has ever met a goose has a goose story.
