Truck Camping Photo Thread

A little camp/SUP/explore this past weekend in the Eastern Sierras.

 

We went our separate ways the following morning. My friends went off to explore Masonic Mountain, I had water in my mind so I went down to Mono Lake to get my toes wet.











Lunch stop at the world famous Whoa Nellie Deli in Lee Vining, CA for their fish tacos.


I might be a smidge jealous of his setup.


Second night's camp.

 

You know you've done good when you go to sleep at 8PM and you wake up with the sun glaring at you at 8AM. The view out the back window.


Scooted down the road a bit to Silver Lake to get more paddling in. Mono Lake is so alkaline and salty it did a number to my board.




Deer were just casually sauntering past.

 

Have you guys had enough of my dog yet? What am I saying... of course not!



Took Tioga Pass to get home. Pretty sure it's a crime to drive by Yosemite Valley and not spend a few minutes there.




El Capitan. Can't see them in the picture but there were climbers 1/3 of the way up the face. Crazy bastards.

 

If y'all haven't seen Free Solo, watch it now. Up that face, no help, no ropes. His hands and feet and nothing else. Unimaginable. Plus his girlfriend is smoking hot...

 

Seen it. Pretty sure Alex is a freaking alien.

Make sure you're putting in some full days of work. Enjoy the "grind"

 

how many people does the rightline tent accommodate? Do you recommend it? Sleep good?

 

I see you have a crapy place to work also. My sympathies.

 

For the price I definitely give it two thumbs up, I picked mine up on Amazon on sale for $140. I have a wooden drawer system I built that I put in the bed and sleep on a twin size mattress above that, still have plenty of head room, and can comfortably sleep 2 adults. Packs down relatively small, can be set up in 10 minutes, disassembled in less than 5. It's perfect for a weekend warrior who can't justify a $1500 RTT. I've only had it up once in bad weather, beating down rain all night with 15-20 mph winds and it was perfectly fine. My only complaints with it, 1) it's a little tight around the bed corners and if you don't get them lined up just right it will leak some around the corners, 2) with the rain fly on there is no ventilation and it turns into a sauna real quick.

 

I guess one perk is we don’t have to use the same desk everyday!

 

I don’t have the slider. The fridge was mounted on a Frontrunner full size slide, but now the fridge is mounted where the rear seat used to be.

 

A quick overnight camping trip with the guys, light trail runs and some shooting up in Big Bear, CA last month. I didn't get to shoot with them, but I got to cook some beer brats (San Miguel Pilsner with pork Ilocano langonisas) and Adobo brats (Adobo recipe using the pork Ilocano langonisas) for my friends before I left. That was their first time trying those recipes and they enjoyed. Some ate the brats with rice, some with pandesal and grilled onions on top. Unfortunately, I didn't get pictures of them because I was too busy cooking and trying to hurry pack to get back home to the Mrs.
A white 3rd gen passed by us as we were waiting for one of the recreational shooting sites to clear out so that we could take over.

 

WABDR that I did with some friends back in August.

 

Week long trip. About 30 minutes from Butte, MT. Buddy had 60 acres surrounded by national forest. Nearest neighbor over 10 miles away.

 

Prince Rupert harbor, Alaska is just 20 miles towards that clearing

Finally got to test out my new tent at Petit Jean State Park. All pros minus the con of packing up to drive to the trail heads
