Received my rack on Tuesday was ordered 8/12 - shipped 8/29 - so right on schedule or earlier than their estimated production times.

I have been excited to get it until I heard about the burr issue...then I started to worry. Is this normal or would it be considered “burrs” to you all? Anyone that has one of these, is that pretty normal for the edges and openings in the side and rear panels

Overall it looks pretty cool and solid. Will know more once it’s put together and on the truck. EB5FD013-4766-4C1C-8629-EF5E265355F9.jpg

It's so small and minute, who cares? Put it on the truck and enjoy it!

You'll never know they are there unless you are within 6in of the cutouts anyway.

    I know it.

I just got an email back from one of the people at Victory and they feel what I received is pretty typical. They sent some pictures of other panels they have going out and it looks much the same as what I have. I don’t really care if it’s not a perfectly cut edge aesthetically...unless it’s sharp or something and I cut myself while trying to use the cutout as a grab handle when accessing the top of the rack. Just wanted to confirm with others that what I’m seeing on mine is in fact “normal”. It seems it is. So with that it’s getting mounted to my truck this weekend. I’ll post some pictures after I get it on.

In regards to the burr issues if you have documentation in regards to de-burring your panels on the manufacturing drawings or within the model (if you are model based) then the vendor who cut the panels is on the hook for replacement parts since they entered into the contract based on information you provided and they provided the quote based on your requirements. We always send along a "General Requirements" document that covers common fabrication processes so they don't need to be listed on the fabrication drawing or in the model annotations especially if things get busy on the drawing. Most quality shops will de-burr without having to be told but I've encounter a few who take on way to much work and their quality suffers and they will cut corners. While I know a lot of engineering design is moving towards model based a good piece part fabrication drawing and assembly drawing goes a long way in clarifying things at the shop plus it gives you a document to refer to if the contract is not fulfilled.

To be honest I think I was making an issue out of nothing or something very small anyhow.

As for the price, I feel it’s justified. A 5% discount is readily available and I’m sure they’ll offer even better discounts from time to time. Also, I got in before the increase. I actually thought to myself, there’s no way they can keep this price point. It’s too cheap. Days after I placed my order they announced it was going up. Also...shipping is free. Which is really sweet for something this size.

I’m just finished assembling the rack now and it’s pretty damn nice. I’m impressed anyhow. The only suggestion (and this is me being picky) is that I’d look to brush any rough or slightly burred edges with a wire wheel or roloc or something and with the price increase offer the the black hardware as a free option...but again...that’s me being picky.

good.. I dont know what the price was. I was thinking how much a Prinsu cost. I agree it is minor and in no way a big deal, but sometimes it isn't unfair to hold them to a higher standard.

To me, that doesn't look right. The cut edge should be free of those little buggers.

Genius! I need to cut mine like this and put them back on. Did you use any double sided tape on them?

Finished installing my rack. Love the look. I haven’t test driven it for wind noise yet but I sat on it. I’m 200 lbs and it held me no problem. Looks and feels ridged. I love 80/20 and use it at work all the time.

Only complaint on the install is the washers provided that go on the screws used for mounting to the roof are not the correct washers. I’m not sure why but two different size screws were provided and the washers included were for the larger screw. They work with the smaller screw but technically they shouldn’t be used. I took an entire class on fasteners and hardware once. Really makes you an anal bastard when it comes to proper fasteners. I used them for now and will replace with the proper washers on Monday.

    I’d buy it again

    So pros are:
-Great looking rack (better looking than the Prinsu IMO)
-Strong enough to hold anything I need to mount on it
-Price (even after the increase, it’s still a great price for this rack and free shipping)
    -Pretty good customer service

    Cons:
-Burrs on the cut edges (I don’t care if it looks like it has a rough edge, I care how it feels when I’m using the cutout as a handle. I might test some weather-stripping around one of the cutouts on each side and only use those as the handles so my baby soft hands don’t get hurt)
    -The washers

Just got mine delivered today. No real burr issues with mine. Looks like the box had a rough ride. IMG_3043.jpg IMG_3046.jpgIMG_3039.jpg

Installed the rack last night. The install took a couple of hours. I was originally concerned rails would have been scratched because of the damage to the box but all the rails and parts were well packed inside. FA7E5922-F5B9-4398-83CA-A78BE85610FC.jpg

Man at first when I read all the commented regarding burrs I though they might have been exaggerated. WELL, got my order this week and finally opened the box today. And man was I DISAPPOINTED. Not only did my set have tons of sharp ass burrs but one of the frame was completed warped. I am so mad I immediately emailed Victory 4x4 to let them know. Hopefully they get back to me otherwise I just wasted $600 on a giant paperweight.A95F89F6-068E-49ED-9889-A0F66968C545.jpgF32032C1-383D-40C8-A692-5EA741296783.jpg

They've been standup so far, I wouldn't worry. I might assemble before I judge the warp. Mine totally tightened up once assembled.

That’s a bummer about the warped panel man. For sure something that should have been caught in QC I would think. Especially based on the fact that this thread exists and everyone has been commenting on quality.

As for the burrs, my rack looked very similar. I emailed pics to Victory and they said that it’s pretty much the “normal” finish. I would think a wire wheel would clean that right up if they did that before powder coating. But what do I know. They offered to swap out the panels for me but I figure if they all look like that then why bother. They also offered a discount on it or a future purchase which I declined. Not out for freebies, just want it to be right. If that’s “normal” than it is what it is.
