Do I need to make an appointment and ask for the service or will a notice come from someone (e.g., Toyota, the dealer).

You probably will not get a notice. I would call and make an appointment with service. The inspection should take around an hour or so depending on your dealers schedule.

13’ here aswell, I just did all the rust touch up on the frame. All of the welds were rusting through but the flats of the frame look decent. All my power steering lines were rusted and needed to be replaced. The tow hitch was 100% rust. Not to mention how the alignment cam bolts get seized in the LCA’s. All that and i’m anal about washing the salt off and I always fluid film the whole truck pre winter.

Wire wheel then permatex brand rust treatment left my welds looking pretty good, it dries clear then you paint over it.

Subbed. This should have been fixed. Guess they are making enough money that they didn’t have to come up with a real solution.

I’D like to find someone to POR my whole frame.

I used chainsaw bar oil on my '05 Tundra, but not until Toyota refused to do anything and I had to weld 7+ feet of weird-ass shaped 14ga patches onto the frame.

Bar oil stops rust for a year or so, then ya re-coat.

    $8/gal for the good stuff.

It sounds like this is pretty much what Toyota is doing, except Toyota bakes the frame to get any water out.

Their old fix - that crappy undercoat trash - that was worse than doing nothing: it just trapped water against the frame.

I find fluid film washes away to easily. I use Amsoil heavy duty metal protector find it adheres better. I would also look at Eastwood internal frame protector and there chases paint. I use ospho to remove the rust then do the other steps. My .02

    Rust never sleeps

most all people in the 1st gen forums absolutely swear by the FF
i am at the spray and wash with the wand frequently during the winter to clean body panels and wheelwells and think the efforts of FF application would go to waste, but I have not tried it out to make sure
and all the wintery puddles and slop to drive through, it snows and melts in random cycles here over and over

i am looking into the Eastwood internal frame protector, happened to stumble upon a video last week showing a 2nd gen being treated
unfortunately the tech guy I called at Eastwood told me the guy that did that presentation video is no longer around to get the details from about its longevity without reapplication
i also have a close older relative with a 2011 that i need to help them with

I just spoke with the service manager at Haley Toyota in Roanoke, Va. She asked for my VIN # to verify my truck was “manufactured in the correct time frame and at what location”. I was then told I could bring it in if I saw rust, which I don’t really have any other than around my lower control arms, not on the frame that is visible.

She then informed me I have until 2027 to be eligible for a replacement, and that the spray corrosion isn’t available for my year at the moment.

    What am I missing here?

She probably asked for the vin number to check if the support program applied to your vehicle. But location goes by where the vehicle is resisted not where it was manufacture. She is correct that the frame spray is not available yet that is covered under a different customer support program. Right now just the frame inspection and frame replacement is available. Yes replacement is available from 12 years of date of first use.

If my truck was registered an located in a covered state (Maryland) for the first two winters of its life, but it moved to a non covered state and that’s where it is now would it still be eligible? Ive owned it since new.

    You can
I have updates the post. You can still have the frame inspected and it if fails you can still have it replaced. If it passes you will have to contact the dealer as to weather or not your frame will be sprayed because it states it has to be registered or regularly operated in the cold weather states.

It never does. This is exactly what i use; Ospho to stop the rust & Amsoil HD MP to prevent it. Looking great so far.

Just spoke to my service manager at Lia Toyota in Rockland Co., New York. He had never heard of customer support program ZKA. Said he'd look at the frame, but sounded to me like it wasn't going to be "inspected."

    Two questions:
    (1) Does it matter that my '11 Tacoma was originally Canadian? I bought it from a dealer in NY.
    (2) Is it possible ZKA hasn't made it to service depts yet?

that Amsoil HD MP looks interesting
it seems most 1st gens on TW to be brainwashing FF on everybody and not entirely sure why?

TW was the first place I had ever seen FF. I've no experience with and no desire to have an oily substance dripping on my garage floor. The Amsoil HD MP and regular MP can drip at installation, but no more than a wee rag in your other hand can catch. The HD MP will STICK! Worked as the perfect barrier between my bolt-on sliders and my frame too. i think FF would have vacated the area after a bit.

do you have any pics of what it looks like on under your truck?
TW was also first time i had heard of FF
i always thought the rubber undercoating and frequent washing was best for more than 1/4 century
