Curious: Why do people still black out license plates when posting pics of their vehicles?

I have yet to figure out when this white claw thing happened. One night it just seemed to come out of nowhere, like all things on the internet. I blame the hipster, guitar strumming, coffee drinking, fruity drink having people who moved in.

Anonymity Do any of you know anyone in law enforcement? If you do they can run a DMV . Privacy is very important with petty people online. It’s a safety issue.

My theory is some dudes girlfriend got plastered on Claws and fucked some other dude. Then the guy who got cheated on decided to make some memes taking it out on the Claw and not going and beating the other dudes ass. And from there the internet took over. Just a theory..

On the website for my county, if you know a person's first and last name, then you know their address and their property tax valuation for last year. On the same site you can search by address and find the owner and lienholder. That shit creates an endless stream of personalized and often creepy junk-mail.

I havent looked for it, nor do I want to, but there might be some local databases here and there for license plates that are publicly searchable like that.
