Quoting in here for visibility. Calling any 1st Gen electrical experts. I feel sort of like I've read something in here about this issue before but I didn't go searching.

Phil, have you a build thread? What are you running in the back for a RTT base? Can that be had with a hard, lockable tonneau cover underneath? And I might as well ask what RTT that is while I'm a askin'.

This week has disappeared in a swirl. It feels like I've been busy... but... oh well.

I have been remiss to not publicly thank @YamaDirtrider and that filthy mouthed fool @Red Baron for the sliders they kindly installed last weekend on my 1st gen '04 DC TRD. So... here's a BIG shout out to these two TWers for their custom 1st gen sliders, $500 out the door. (I opted for HREW, fwiw.)

Ultimately I decided to go flat. Probably a good thing I hadn't remembered how @lambo did his. That was the mall crawling / trail crawling look I had been considering. Yama & Baron would have been happy to do them that way, but in the end, practicality won out: this is my survey rig, and by putting the sliders @ 0° I maximized their utility as a step, which was a consideration for wife & family.

    Here are some photos...

It finally happened! Congrats. Now go to your local good hardware store and buy 10 feet of 1" 3M backed grip tape to put on top of the sliders before someone slides off trying to get in or out. I just did this on on mine before my <5' tall mom comes to visit.
