I have the ILX-F309. Only dislikes are - one camera input, one usb and it doesn't dim when headlights are on. Not deal breakers, just dislikes.

    Other than that, great radio.

    1. First off I wanna give probs to Tony L for posting this and including all the information and photos this is a great resource for people in the market for a CarPlay + Oem HU setup
    2. To All the people that keep posting the “for that much money an aftermarket HU with CarPlay via BT Is a better deal” stop hating I think the plug and play CarPlay is a cleaner look than most aftermarket head units and that’s just me
    3. Here the Beats Sonics version the people above were asking about:

Could you share the routing to get the microphone up above your rear view? I know its going to need to run inside the headliner and then down the A-pillar, but how do you get it behind the dash? Were you able to just use your fingers to push it in behind the headliner?

I'm going to do something similar soon but haven't quite wrapped my head about the routing for the new microphone.

From the A-pillar, you run it further down, and then under the steering wheel to the head unit area. Just keep it tucked nicely. You should be able to tuck the wires under the headliner using your fingers since the headliner has some give. I used a credit card to tuck in under the A-pillar.

Not sure if you've purchased the unit already, but the beat-sonic one retains the use of the OEM microphone.

How was the install (for a rookie installer). Is it pretty straightforward once you open up the dash? I have run pop n’ locks and remote starter so not fearful but just don’t want to tear things open and have to search for a rescue shop!

After seeing the OG post, I became curious. Thank you @tonylop33
Jumped on the Beat-Sonic CarPlay system as I had their iPhone mirroring system and it worked very well.
Installation was plug and play and there is room for the to tuck the 2 control boxes out of the way.
The cables are insulated very well.
Here are a few pics. So far the system operates as intended...I mainly use it for messaging and Waze
USB to iPhone is via the factory USB and uses the factory Mic.

Note* I wrapped the harness with tesa tape and have a lead for my front and rear backup camera.

HAHA same here. Also just notice that the new version used the factory mic which is great.

On the Beat Sonic website, it states that the system is compatible with 2016-2019 Toyota Tacoma w/ JBL only. It didn't seem like your head unit included the JBL package. If it didn't, does everything seem flawless?

Yes, I see the radio didn't have the JBL badge, so I was curious if there were any issues, because Beat-Sonic's website says it's only compatible with JBL units.

Would you mind snagging some pictures of the head unit in your truck? I've been eyeing that HU for a bit but I'm not sure how I feel about how it sticks out so much.
